Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Persistence of Anti-Semitism
Where does legitimate opinion end and bigotry begin?
Last Wednesday's Holocaust Remembrance Day, which this year commemorated the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, was marked by customary calls to combat anti-Semitism worldwide. Yet resisting bigotry is not as clear-cut an issue as it might seem at first glance, at a time when the very definition of anti-Semitism is shifting and constantly questioned. Where some see the cancer of Jew-hatred, others see the charge of anti-Semitism being used to stifle discussion of issues particularly in relation to Israel and the conflict in the Middle East.
Anti-Semitism is probably the world's oldest still-extant form of group hate. But where does legitimate opinion end and bigotry begin? Last week, Israeli Information Minister Yuli Edelstein told the media that the recent United Nations report harshly critical of Israel's military operations in Gaza in December 2008-January 2009 was a type of anti-Semitism despite the fact that its author, South African judge Richard Goldstone, is Jewish. Plenty of commentators have criticized the Goldstone report as tendentious, particularly in downplaying the Hamas fighters practice of hiding among civilians. But if the anti-Israel bias is real, is it based on anti-Semitism or on a left-leaning prejudice that favors Third World people over Western democracies and their allies? The latter seems more likely.
Yet, if it too simplistic and unfair automatically to equate critiques of Israeli policies with anti-Jewish prejudice, the truth remains that critiques of Israel often serve as a convenient smokescreen and vehicle for genuine bigotry. Attacks on the Israel Lobby have a tendency to descend into nasty insinuations about Jewish control of major American institutions and American Jews as disloyal citizens who always put Israel first.
A striking demonstration of this occurred earlier this month. Policy analyst Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIAs Bin Laden unit, has portrayed himself as a victim of the Israel Lobby. Scheuer charges that he was fired by the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington, DC think tank, over a caustic remark about Barack Obama doing the Tel Aviv two-step pandering to Israel backers during the 2008 campaign. Scheuer is also a vocal proponent of the view that the United States should end its support for Israel in order to improve relations with the Muslim world.
On January 4, Scheuer appeared on a C-SPAN program where a caller from Franklin, New York declared that he was sick and tired of all these Jews coming on C-SPAN and other stations and pushing us to go to war against our Muslim friends and went on to say, "They have way too much power in this country. People like Wolfowitz and Feith and the other neo-cons they jewed us into Iraq." In response, Scheuer not only failed to condemn this blatant bigotry but seemed to agree with the caller, saying that whether we want to be involved in fighting Israel's wars in the future is something that Americans should be able to talk about.
Elsewhere in the world, Polish Catholic bishop Tadeusz Pieronek marked Holocaust Remembrance Day with a statement to a Catholic website accusing Jews of using the Holocaust as a weapon of propaganda to obtain unjust advantages such as American support for Israel and to treat Palestinians like animals. And hostility to Israel in the Arab and Muslim world often manifests itself in updated versions of ancient, vicious libels against Jews. Thus, the medieval blood libel claiming that Jews kill Christian children to use their blood for ritual purposes finds new life in a story peddled by government-run Iranian television station charging that Israeli doctors helping earthquake survivors in Haiti are really there to harvest human organs for sale.
There are, of course, spurious charges of anti-Semitism made for political advantage. Recently, conservative radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh accused Obama of appealing to anti-Semitic prejudice by going after Wall Street and the banks, since many people equate banker with Jew. Ironically, the Anti-Defamation League, which tends to focus on enemies on the right, then accused Limbaugh of anti-Semitism for these comments, compounding one groundless claim of bigotry with another equally groundless one.
Yet real anti-Jewish bigotry not only exists but seems to be on the rise. Traditional right-wing anti-Semitism, based on religious and cultural prejudice and on the perception of Jews as rootless and subversive, coexists and often overlaps with a new left-wing anti-Semitism that sees Jews as proxies for Israel, and Israel as a carrier of Western imperialism in the Middle East.
Combating these trends from the bully pulpit is important. Yet President Obamas recently appointed special envoy and head of the Office to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, Hannah Rosenthal, has been largely quiet, reserving her most outspoken criticism so far for the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, whom she blasted in December 2009 for his harsh remarks about pro-peace Jewish groups.
Fear of being labeled anti-Semitic should not stifle debate about Israeli policies or U.S. policy in the Middle East. But no debate should ever be allowed to become a cover or an excuse for hate and, in this particular debate, theres plenty of hate to go around.

I don’t understand all the irrational hatred for Jews and Israel.
Hatred of Jews and criticism of Israel are two different things.
If you don’t understand why some people criricize Israel, it’s probably because you don’t know much about the history of the region.
Exactly. It’s like saying that Israel needs to be criticized for not committing genocide on the natives as well as the English colonists who later became Americans.
Thank you both for your reasoned response. To anti- Israel fanatics, I understand that Israel doesn’t deal with sworn enemies as ‘neatly’ as we do, but at least they do make an effort to give a ‘heads up’ to innocent civilians. Hamas TARGETS civilians, and refuses to engage the Israeli military. DYOC on who is the real agressor here.
If you don’t understand why some people criricize Israel, it’s probably because you don’t know much about the history of the region.
That’s why I mentioned them as two different things, not one entity. Try reading without your biased assumptions getting in the way.
“If you don’t understand why some people criricize Israel, it’s probably because you don’t know much about the history of the region.”
Ahhh.. that makes perfect sense. Now I understand why Israelis are war criminals and the poor disadvantaged Muslim Arab* who detonates a nail wrapped high explosive charge with the intent purpose of tearing the little demon seed bodies of Israeli pre-schoolers into shreds is a “hero” completely justified in fighting back against and evil occupier the only way he can. Stupid me, I didn’t understand because I didn’t realize I “don’t know much about the history of the region.” Sure wish some one would have pointed that out to me before now. And to think of all these years having been descended from a non-Jewish people from that region who suffered over four centuries of slavery under brutal Muslim rule I had felt I made a very sufficient effort to be knowledgeable about the region’s history. It just goes to show no matter how much we learn we don’t know a thing until our lucky day comes and we’ve been given guidance from a true knower.
*Note: Non-Israeli, around 20% of Israel’s citizens are Arabs of which over 80% are Muslim some of whom hold high office in government, more than a few have functioned as operatives in intelligence gathering for the state, all live within Israel by choice, and their alleged involvement of any kind in attacks within Israel is unusual.
It’s all well and good to bring out the string of atrocities perpetrated by agents of the “other side,” but to ignore the long-standing(50-60yrs) double-standards established by the Israeli government whether explicitly or implicitly is to ignore reality.
What about the 20% of Arabs who are not Muslim? We’ll let you get away with lumping all Arabs together (like lumping all Europeans or Hispanic people together, except with even more religious diversity.), but your 80% leaves out Arabs who are not fed the garbage that comes out of certain mosques (maybe all, I don’t really know or care). For example, Christians in the region have been caught between the warring sides since 1947, most call for peace, and yet they can have their land confiscated at any time even though they are technically Israeli “Citizens” and handed over to “Settlers.” How do you settle land that has been settled by someone else? This leads to a possible reason some Americans criticize Israel– a built up guilt that is probably not justified over what their forefathers had purportedly done to the Native Americans. In the end, modern Americans had nothing to do with the theft and murder associated with “settling” America so they should rationally give up the guilt. However, the re-“settling” of Israel is more recent and the injustices it wrought are alive in the people that survived. In the end, it would be nice if everyone could give up the grudges and coexist, but this is not a fairy tale. Vengeance, poverty, and zealotry can make a potent cocktail of irrationality and no amount of facts will pull the thorn out of that beast’s paw. Unfortunately, somebody had to put that thorn there in the first place.
How about their consistent support for socialist policies? How about the fact that 85% of the ‘chosen people’ voted for Obama…
Anti-Semitism and what can and can’t be said about the MIddle East.
I don’t understand the dramatically low threshold at which criticism becomes irrational hatred.
Maybe you should rub yourself on this and loosen up.
Perhaps they have been cutting the world supply of K-Y Jello with friction causing adulterants.
Wow, that was quite touching indeed.

I don’t understand how the Jewish people can be at the root of all nefarious conspiracies, when some seem to work against each other. i.e. controlling the US to have them fight Israel’s war by having a ‘Muslim’ elected President.
If you have to ask…
But I can explain!
I thought that was going to be from one of the Kids in the Hall. He might not have been the most hilarious guy in the troupe, but he was funnier than that.
Most jews are just regular people like everyone else in the world. There are a few ultra powerful ones (Rothchilds) who are the problem. These few though jewish in ancestory aren’t really practicing jews they are satanist. The Illuminati aren’t jews, christians or muslims and will use and pit factions against each other as needed to carry out there plans of world domination.
Had I read only the first line there’d be no reason to doubt the lucidity of the author.
“White Power” by George L. Rockwell will answer your question
http://tworca.org/WhitePower.pdf
Funny thing you should invoke bishop Pieronek, he actually said that the interview was manipulated and apologized in case anyone felt offended. He numerously stood against catholic fundamentalists (for example inviting bishop Williamson who negates Holocaust to Auschwitz), he represents a liberal branch of Polish catholic church and received a Jan Karski Eagle Award. In any case his views on foreign policy are hardly motivated by anti-Semitism.
Yes indeed. It seems that Young is motivated by some sort of fervent anti-anti-Semitism which leads her to overlook obvious exculpatory facts when it comes to pointing out potential instances of anti-Semitism.
How about this: we stop giving international aid, except for the freely donated giving from individuals. The massive amounts of aid we give Israel also give anti-Semites (anti-Jewish people, really) a ready made line – e.g., “if they don’t control everything, why do they get…” As if our congresscrap needs any excuse to spend our money other than some lobbyist giving them dinner. Or hookers and blow, or whatever.
It’s not ‘aid’. It’s payment for services rendered. The relationship runs in the opposite direction to what most people believe.
explain
Yeah, you’re going to have to elaborate on that one a bit.
The whore doesn’t usually pay the john.
wait, who is the whore in this analogy, and why?
I doubt that “Anti-Semitism is … the world’s oldest still-extant form of group hate”, but it may be the oldest that’s as widespread, mainly owing to, y’know, the diaspora. But there’s probably groups that have lived next to each other for millennia that have hated each other the whole time.
Like the Basques and whichever non-Basque group has been occupying Iberia over the past 2000+ years?
There is no such thing as anti-Semitism anyway since modern jews are really Caucasian Khazars.
The Khazars most likely converted to Islam or Orthodox Christianity upon the downfall of the Khazar Kaganate. Genetic analysis of Ashkenazi Jews shows no markers of Central Asian/Turkic ancestry.
Also, 60-70% of Israeli Jews have roots in countries like Syria, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Yemen, etc.
So, Christian Identity , as well as Birtherism is part of your bizarre belief system.
Explains a lot.
Yes, it’s true that the as the Jews migrated through what is now the former USSR and Eastern Europe they made converts among the locals and intermarried with them (thus diluting the “racial purity”), it is hardly the case that the true “chosen people” have been replaced by inerlopers as you protonazis would have it.
Mentioning Jews (as opposed to the biblical Israelites) as the “chosen people” makes you sound like a proto-anti-nazi, btw.
Maybe “reverse-nazi” is a better term.
I gave my girlfriend a reverse nazi just last weekend. Her mouth still bleeds a little.
Actually, I’m a Reincarnationist who believes Christianity is just a romanized form of Mithraism. As for the “chosen people”, I hope you’ve read in the Talmud how when the Messiah comes they will be the rulers of the world and all the rest of us will be their slaves that they can treat as less than cattle.
The Same can be said of Dr. Martin Luther King. He was subtle about it, but his end goal was that we would all sing a negro spiritual:
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
If you knew anything about Judaism and Halacha, you would know that the Talmud is merely a compendium of varying legal opinions on various legal issues given by legal scholars. Many of these scholars had seen their teachers wrapped in Torah scrolls and burned alive by the Romans- hence some pretty extreme political feelings abound in the Talmud.
Then again, if you even bothered to learn about Judaism from sources other than the “Protocols” or stormfront.org, you wouldn’t spew such ignorant nonsense.
Way to be a good little jewish apologist. Why don’t you and your friends go and murder some more women and children in Gaza. You try to make me look like a nazi but everyone here knows the real nazis are you and the Israelis.
From the Talmud:
Zohar, Toldoth Noah 63b
When the Messiah comes every Jew will have 2800 slaves.
Mas. Shabbath 31b
On the house of the Goy one looks as on the fold of cattle.
Zohar, Vayshlah 177b
That the Jewish nation is the only nation selected by God, while all the remaining ones are contemptible and hateful.
That all property of other nations belongs to the Jewish nation, which consequently is entitled to seize upon it without any scruples. An orthodox Jew is not bound to observe principles of morality towards people of other tribes. He may act contrary to morality, if profitable to himself or to Jews in general.
A Jew may rob a Goy, he may cheat him over a bill, which should not be perceived by him, otherwise the name of God would become dishonoured.
Sanhedrin 58b
If a goy killed a goy or a Jew he is responsible, but if a Jew killed a goy he is not responsible.
Midrasch Talpioth, p. 225-L
Everything a Jew needs for his church ritual no goy is permitted to manufacture, but only a Jew, because this must be manufactured by human beings and the Jew is not permitted to consider the goyim as human beings.
Doesn’t sound like legal opinions to me. I won’t even mention how the Torah is filled with the Isrealites slaughtering whole towns men, women and children over and over again.
Isn’t all of that just some shit that doesn’t apply to the modern world? I mean really didn’t all nation/tribes think that way back then.
The Zohar is not part of the Talmud, dumbass. That’s enough knowledge to justify ignoring you.
Is it part of jewish teaching? Did a jew write that? Are there jews that believe that? I don’t give a fuck what book it’s in, it’s still part of the jewish belief that they are a superior people and that everyone else is beneath them. Wow, who does that sound like? HITLER!
But where does legitimate opinion end and bigotry begin?
The same place it always did. If you hate them because they are Jewish you are a bigot. If you hate them because of something they do and they happen to be Jewish you are not.
“They have way too much power in this country. People like Wolfowitz and Feith and the other neo-cons they jewed us into Iraq.”
Um, okay Cartman…
well the Romans and the Greeks weren’t homophobic, so homophobia isn’t that old.
Well. Since hatred against gays is enshrined in judeo-christian beliefs, homophobia is at least as old as the Jews.
But where does legitimate opinion end and bigotry begin?
__________________________________
Legitimate opinion begins when someone can criticize Israel in a tactful way. Bigtory typically starts with Buchanan and Lone Wacko for starters.
I hate to say it, but I have an anecdotal experience where I can see someone have their anti-Semitism validated.
My anecdotal experience relates to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. I had heard so much about the thing that one day last Spring I started (like so much else) on the Wiki and went from there. The document is obviously a fraud, etc. There’s no truth to it per se.
But what’s it about? The “meat” of the conspiracy? Uh-oh, its about Evil Jewish Bankers. About how they will destroy “real” money through behind-the-scenes engineered crises where they can assume control as a response, and by controlling the money therefore control all the rubes like me.
Now, lets say I am living in Iran, have a anti-semitic predisposition, and am fed information by a media apparatus built to maintain and inflame my predisposition…
In that context when I hear about Messrs. Blankfein, Paulson, Geitner, and Bernanke making near trillion-dollar deals (with everyone else’s money) behind closed doors to basically save and fatten Goldman Sachs of all things…well, it would make some sense to me I am afraid to say. Bernie Madoff anyone? That guy is a real weird one…the Jew Who Eats His Own. Rare bird there. The current financial situation, more than anything with Israel right now, makes Jews look stereotypically bad in a way they haven’t for a long, long time. Especially if you see the world through that filter (even a little) to begin with.
Remember, though, that a lot of people use criticism of oppressive Arab governments as a “smokescreen” for their prejudice against Arabs! I’ve heard just awful things about Palestinians in particular. Of course, none of this means that criticism of Hamas or other Arab governments is “racist.”
Does anyone disagree with this?
I have long been of the opinion that anti-semitism is a disease you catch from jews….
Ms. Young,
I never said that I wanted to end the current U.S.-Israel relationship in order to”make friends with Arabs,” or any other such rot. I said that the relationship should be terminated because there is nothing in it for the United States except intolerable human and material costs. For the U.S., our relationship with Israel is a sucking chest wound: it bleeds our treasury; involves us in religious wars in which we have no stake; and corrupts our domestic politics and foreign-policy making through the efforts of AIPAC and other U.S. citizen Israel-Firsters. Ditto for Palestine and its Arab supporters. Our policy should be a pox on both their houses. If they want endless war — and both sides have every right to defend themselves as they wish — so be it; let them go at it forever or until one or both are destroyed. Neither is worth a single American dollar or life.
Respectfully,
M.F. Scheuer
“Fear of being labeled anti-Semitic should not stifle debate about Israeli policies or U.S. policy in the Middle East. But no debate should ever be allowed to become a cover or an excuse for hate and, in this particular debate, there is plenty of hate to go around.”
Let us separate the politics of the Israeli-Arab conflict from racial and religious hate.
The exclusion of Jewish populations living throughout the Middle East since the time of Cyrus the Great is a modern political phenomenon promoted by Muslim theocrats
using the revised idea of ‘Arab nationalism’ to replace the Western empires of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Hate and bigotry are the reverse sides of every religious coin. Until religion can exorcize these fatal flaws there will be wars of unreasoned hate fed only by the paranoia of cultural xenophobia incited by political anarchists for personal gain.
Anti-semite 🙁
Israel is a Western style democracy, the Arab countries that surround it are not. Israel should expect to be held to a higher standard than her neighbors. Read Rothbard’s critique of Podhoretz; the neocons did and do frame issues within an Israel-first prism.
And any libertarian worth his salt ought to be opposed to any form of aid from the US government to any other country. That includes Israel.
The ancestors of those in the states around Israel stood upright and started using tools at the same time as those from Israel. That excuse is bogus. They should be held to the same standard. To do so is racist, implying that they are a bunch of w*gs.
The US governemnt gives too much money to Saudi Arabia AND Israel. We should give no money to either nutball country. Theocratis socialist countries or fundamentalist inbred royalist don’t deserve US taxpayer money. Why is it that the bedrocks of the establishment foriegn policy is to give money and military aid to these to extremist factions that are involved in so much chaos? I guess as long as there is conflict it is easier to justify spending trillion on military contracts….read Zibrinski and Kissinger…it isn’t about “spreading democracy” it is about making sure no country gets ahead…keep everyone fighting amongst themselves and it is easier to maintain an empire.
Next they will tell us that being against war is racist.
Scheuer is wrong to claim that the US gets nothing out of its support for Israel. As Martin Kramer has pointed out, the US realized that Israel was a stabilizing force in the region after the PLO’s attempted coup in Jordan in 1970. Jordan was able to suppress the coup in part because Syria and Egypt were deterred from intervening on the PLO’s behalf by Israeli deterrence. Shortly thereafter, Jordan and Egypt had made peace with Israel, and Egypt had been weaned away from the Soviet camp.
In fact, the US relationship w/ Israel is precisely the sort of “offshore balancer” role for the USA that realists advocate. Realists include Scheuer, Mearscheimer, & Walt, so the fact that they are among the harshest US critics of Israel indicates that their animus against Israel is stronger than their official theory.
The same, BTW, is true of many libertarians, especially of the paleo variety, otherwise they would be heaping praise on Netanyahu for his liberalization of the Israeli economy since 2002. Their anti-Israel animus trumps their professed love of economic freedom.
Well, there are at least some Americans who benefit from the U.S.-Israel relationship, namely defense contractors. The American taxpayer finances Uncle Sam’s purchases of their weapons of mass death at a sweet price, and then Uncle turns around and sells them to the Israelis, who buy them with funds from U.S. foreign aid. This massive transfer-of-wealth program is one of the many U.S. government boondoggles bankrupting this country, but hey who gives a shit about that, right?
I don’t know how much Netanyahu liberalized the Israeli economy, but I do know that the U.S. economy has become much less liberal as this whole war of terror business has progressed.
Cathy forgot to mention that being against the Federal Reserve is anti-semitic too.
All the yammering about who does what and who has what claim and whether Jews have too much influence is irrelevant.
The only thing of importance to me as an American voter is that I expect the people I vote for to represent the interests of US citizens, not to piss away American lives and tax dollars by sticking America’s nose into every one else’s bidness. Afghani girls can’t go to school without being killed? Not my problem. Ethnic violence in Bosnia? Let them work it out themselves. Israel in a perpetual state of war? Too bad. Maybe Zionists shouldn’t have insisted on swiping land that other people were already living on. Reap the harvest.
I don’t like seeing violence and suffering, but not every problem has an American interventionist solution and the morality of conflicts is not always clear cut.
Don’t forget about all those anti-Semitic jews in New York City who take this position in order to maintain their status as ‘progressive’ leftists. Most of the jews I knew in NYC were anti-Semitic, and it was for this reason alone.
happoundo.com
The plethora of comments displaying anti-Israel fever and vehement hatred of Jews in general is astounding. It’s not well-founded dislike of this tiny majority that perplexes me. The hatred of Jews is thousands of years old, so that it still exists is no big surprise. But how do 14 million people spread across the world cause such virulent reaction? Exactly how do Jews who do not proselytize, are never burdens on the taxpayer anywhere, and contribute in every cultural and economic area in greater amounts than their tiny numbers should indicate encourage such animosity? Envy. Pure and simple.
You may not be short, have a big nose, or curly hair. But, you’re quite ugly in any case.
…Exactly how do Jews who…are never burdens on the taxpayer anywhere…
Um, tell that to the taxpayers who are going to spend the next hundred years paying for Federal Reserve Follies and Goldman Sachs shenanigans. Don’t mean to feed the stereotype, but if it walks like a duck…
It is easy to be successful when all your mates have money and help you and give you the jobs in movies, tell you the best stocks to buy and when and organise you contracts etc etc. Wake up dipshit we are in the real world. Jews are successful because other jews help them its simple. They are not magical super intelligent beings they all work together for Israel you fuckwit..
Anti-Semitism is alive and well by both the Left and Right Wing. I have said for years that anti-semitism still exists everywhere and most especially in Europe as the Europeans have shown their anti-Israel bias in all their institutions. However make no mistake that anti-Israel bias and anti-semitism most certainly exists in all forms right here in the United States. And yes, it is the same thing to be anti-semitic and anti Israel.
…it is the same thing to be anti-semitic and anti Israel….
Uh, no it’s not. The fact you can’t tell the difference is why I worry about this column’s unstated proposition, which is, “at what point do we get to stifle opinions we don’t like?”
Labelling speech as “hate speech” is a cheap shortcut. Either debate a point on its merits or go live in a bubble.
Can Cathy Young write about something from a libertarian perspective for once? How about trying to make it interesting? Just like in 2003 when she wrote about invading Iraq, it’s like she is trying to make the reader believe she thinks both sides have equal arguments. No. Invading Iraq was wrong and anyone that reads the Goldstine report and claims it is anti-semitic is wrong. It so sad what has become of both Reason (and Cato) over the last decade.
So, if, as a Jew, I condemn anything connected to or affiliated with the so-called modern day “State of Israel” based on the Talmud (the fundamental doctrine of the Oral Tradition handed down by G-d to Moses on Mt. Sinai), Tractate Kesubos (p. 111a), where it teaches that Jews shall not use human force to bring about the establishment of a Jewish state before the coming of the universally accepted Moshiach (Messiah from the House of David), that makes me anti-semitic?
Since the Talmud states that we – as Jews – are forbidden to rebel against the nations and that we should remain loyal citizens and we shall not attempt to leave the exile which G-d sent us into, ahead of time, is the Talmud anti-semitic?
Oh, come on, Michael. You’re either a far left wing primtivist with an irrational hatred of all things good, shiny, and virtuous–i.e., American–or you’re a Jew-hating bigot. What other reason for opposition to the Israeli government* could there possibly be?
So sayeth Cathy Young, and so therefore it is.
_____________________________________
*Of course, it shouldn’t be too hard for a supposedly libertarian writer to grasp the reasons for opposition to the actions of a government, but then again I’m only supposing that Ms. Young is any kind of libertarian.

“But if the anti-Israel bias is real, is it based on anti-Semitism or on a left-leaning prejudice that favors Third World people over Western democracies and their allies? The latter seems more likely.”
Now there’s a nice, simple, Manichean dichotomy glossed over with an attractive pseudo-scientific veneer that any pointy-headed laptop bomardier with an Ivy League degree should be able to appreciate.
Y’know, I’m gonna take a stab in the dark here and make a third possible suggestion: that it could also be due to the Israeli government’s* instigating mass slaughter of innocent civilians.
Which could also explain the rising tide of anti-American hatred throughout the Middle East as well.
But wait. Wait, wait, wait. What’s wrong with me? I must have been infected by that “left-leaning prejudice that favors Third World people over Western democracies.”

Israel has never instigated mass slaughter. Only its enemies have done that. To say otherwise is an anti-Semitic lie.
Cathy Young is no Libertarian.
Is it on a separate day that we’re supposed to remember the 5 million Slavs (8 million if you include Russian prisoners of war) that died in pretty much the same ways and for the same reasons under Nazi occupation?
This site is a Mossad or Zionist set up which is designed to try and get people to believe it is encouraging “free speech” This Cathy Young is a tool of the Zionists, pure and simple this whole site is.
