Very Good Obama, You Got Me Again.
I can't believe I actually bought this line for a second while Obama was talking:
On some issues, there are simply philosophical differences that will always cause us to part ways. These disagreements, about the role of government in our lives, about our national priorities and our national security, have been taking place for over two hundred years. They are the very essence of our democracy.
He listens to me!, I thought. He's going to acknowledge that even in current political debates reasonable people can disagree! And then this:
But what frustrates the American people is a Washington where every day is Election Day. We cannot wage a perpetual campaign where the only goal is to see who can get the most embarrassing headlines about their opponent – a belief that if you lose, I win. Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can. The confirmation of well-qualified public servants should not be held hostage to the pet projects or grudges of a few individual Senators. Washington may think that saying anything about the other side, no matter how false, is just part of the game. But it is precisely such politics that has stopped either party from helping the American people. Worse yet, it is sowing further division among our citizens and further distrust in our government.
Nope, back to normal. People who disagree with Obama hold grudges, have pet projects, keep good people hostage, enjoy sowing division, and think this is all a game.

Well that's me. Except for the last one.
I think its a game, like Russian Roulette. We're all fucked.
Mao! Mao!
enjoy sowing division, and think this is all a game
But it is!
excellent point!
What happened to the preview button?
If you think that's bad, you should see what we do to the people who agree with us!
I turned on the radio at that exact point and had to turn it back off before I started screaming.
"On some issues,...But"
Wonderful! 'If you don't agree with me, why you must be 'un-American. And stuff'.
Disclosure: I haven't listened to (or seen a blog of) a SOTUS since I don't know when; perhaps C's, R's, B's, C's, and B's speeches were equally fatuous. I hope not, but am more than prepared to be disabused of the hope.
I used to buy his lines all the time. That's why I voted for him.
"Because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. ... And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year."
Fucking horseshit!
"If we don't pass stimulus we will have 10% unemployment"
today at 10% employment
"if we did not pass stimulus we would have 20% unemployment"
You neocons have to learn that you're entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts. If we had not passed the stimulus we would have 248% unemployment by now.
BHO did visit all 57 states, after all.
"We will continue to go through the budget line by line to eliminate programs that we can't afford and don't work. We've already identified $20 billion in savings for next year."
Wow! With a deficit of $1 trillion, that $20 billion isn't even a good start. A grain of sand on a very large beach.
"eliminate programs that we can't afford and don't work" - isn't that most things the federal government does now?
you forgot 'represent special interests.'
Locusts, tornadoes
Crosses and nazi halos
They follow, they follow
Lashes and grins
Ass-backwards medicines
They follow, they know
I might need you to lead
And part the sea so we can cross
It they follow us still
I might need you to kill
Every room and every human at will
I might need you to KILL.
Now i spit to the ground
i spit to the ground!
i wont look twice at dead walls,
i dont wanna white pillar of salt
i carry my baby,
i carry my baby!
Her eyes can barely see
her mouth can barely breathe
i can see shes afraid,
that's why we're escaping!
so we wont have to die,
we wont have to deny,
our dirty god!
our dirty bodies!
Ringtones Send "A Pillar Of Salt" Ringtone to your Cell Ringtones
I looked my fear in the eyes!
Looked at the cold ground below!
I knew I could love or die!
I let it go!
I let it go!
Lime and limpid green,
The second scene,
The sight between the scene
We once knew!
Floating down,
The sound surrounds around
And I see Waters
Underground
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
There is no contradiction between those two passages. Obama believes that people are entitled to have philosophical differences with him, as long as they don't put those differences into practice by getting in his way. Plenty of tolerant people hold such an attitude.
Of all the infuriating nonsense Obama spouted (and there was a plethora of it) one that got me the most was that absolute BS of him being nobly willing to sacrifice his popularity to do what is good for the long term of the country.
Of course it just couldn't be possible that his policies are substantitvely wrong - no that's just not possible.
It's just that we are all too stupid to get it.
Hopefully the public is a lot smarter than he gives them credit for and doesn't fall for any of this bullshit.
The decrease in Obama's popularity IS good for the country.
Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can.
Obama sure is pissed at the Blue Dog party....wait they are a party?
"Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can."
Because we are in charge and there's not going to be any bills that come up that we don't like anyway!
And even if you can't delay or obstruct a bill, as the Republicans couldn't until this week, you will still get blamed for it being obstructed.
Didn't watch, but got a transcript. Much easier and less time consuming that way. I saw a lot of petty obsessions and fixations from a typical member of the weird tribe of left wing democrats. One year down three more where this shit gets polished and shined and taken ever so seriously in the media even though we all are aware that the expansion of middle class entitlements he is talking about here is undoable and if done would have disastrous consequences in the aggregate even if little miss art history major believes that write off is a blessing from the almighty O himself instead of from the rest of us who are sent the bill for her life style enhancement loans.
The only good that could come of this is their marginalization caused by over exposure to sunlight. That turd will stink to high heaven at first, causing us all kinds of nasal trouble for a while, but it will eventually dry up, become encrusted, walked over and forgotten.
Until that dog shits again.
Just because it's completely obvious which party he's referring to, he did in fact direct this comment to both parties. Maybe there's a reason you're so certain about which party is the one described as petty, obstructive, and child-like?
Hey, look! It's Tony playing the red team/blue team game when it has nothing to do with the post under discussion. Who mentioned a particular party? Obama is just as dismissive and thuggish toward members of his own party when they disagree with him as with team red. The point is that Obama contradicts himself, mouthing platitudes about the wonders of disagreement and democracy, then turns around and attacks anyone who disagrees with him, imputing bad motives to them so he may refuse to consider the possibility that they might be sincere in opposition or that they may have a point.
You know, the same exact way Tony dismisses all arguments that disagree with his position without bothering to read and/or understand them. If you're not with Obama you must be evil.
What upsets the American people isn't a Washington that thinks it's Election Day, it's a President who thinks that every day is the day before Election Day. This guy has been in a year and is still on the campaign trail. You won asshole, stop giving speeches and actually do something.
Um... IceTrey, considering the shit he spouts off, I'd really prefer if he kept on campaigning and didn't do anything.
Are you sure you want to give him that advice?
Now for some girl-on-girl action!
Nancy Pelosi and Lindsey Graham???
Ugh, I puked in my mouth a little.
RCTL2.0 what would your 2 moms think?
@RCTL
Just how many of you are there? You seem to exist in a parallel universe. A parallel troll universe.
Quantum physics can't even explain 😉
Maybe you have perfected the ability to clone yourself?
