Reason Writers Around Town: Damon Root on How ACORN Profits from New York's Eminent Domain Abuse
At BigGovernment.com, Associate Editor Damon W. Root explains what ACORN, a self-described champion of "social and economic justice," is doing in bed with shady real estate powerbroker Bruce Ratner. Here's a hint: Follow the money.

I was hoping for an Atlantic Yards post so I could toss this in.
The roundball team that Ratner wishes to bring to inlict on the citizens of New York City is 0-11.
Can you imagine the way the major media would be all over ACORN if it were associated with the political right? Instead the AP has 11 people fact-checking Palin’s book.

The FEC would have bought tanks and burned down the ACORN Compound by now.

I love today’s spin on this (it finally, belatedly got sent around today, apparently): The journalistic need to dissect a losing VP candidate’s folksy campaign memoir is so tense and urgent, a hundred man-hours had to be expended on it on the very day of its release! for the People!, so AP tensely and urgently put an eleven-man emergency task force on it. “Don’t you know what ‘man-hours’ are? I thought you Reich-wingers were all about business.”
(They tend to say “person-hours,” actually, because they’re obedient.)
Yeah, I loved how during the election, we got more coverage of Sarah Palin’s daughter’s boyfriend’s family than we got of, say, whatever the heck Obama did during college.
Fuck ACORN. GOP in ’10 and ’12.
How about “neither”?
That Libertarian Guy has it right.
Not only do I hope Ratner loses, I would love to see the state make him pay back the tax money already spent on utility relocation and such at the site. Justice served, biatch.
+1. Hells yeah.
My compliments to Root on the article, by the way.
