  1. BlueBook   16 years ago

I was under the impression that the sun was pushed across the sky by a celestial dung beetle.

    1. Suki   16 years ago

Not pushed, purchased, not dung beetle, eminent domain.

    2. Brandybuck   16 years ago

OMG! Racism! He called Obama a shitbug!

  2. Fist of Etiquette   16 years ago

Maybe it would make more sense if the sun wasn't actually up.

  3. Team America   16 years ago

    Payneful.

  4. Suki   16 years ago

LOLZ, that one was funny. Maybe I am more awake than I should be.

  5. Groovus Maximus   16 years ago

    Heh, captures his arrogance nicely.

    I've seen worse here lately.

  6. Kyle Jordan   16 years ago

    "Heh, captures his arrogance nicely."

    I agree.

  7. Warty   16 years ago

WTF? Friday Funnies aren't supposed to make me smile. You fucked up, Payne.

  8. anarch   16 years ago

    Reversely racist cartoon.

  9. Fist of Etiquette   16 years ago

It's kind of sexist to have the First Lady asleep while important decisions are being made.

    1. Reformed Republican   16 years ago

How do you know that is the first lady?

      1. hmm   16 years ago

It's not Bawny Fraank. The lump isn't big enough.

  10. brotherben   16 years ago

Haughtiness captured nicely. Sad, profound and accurate. Chuckle inducing. Best Friday Funny to date, IMO.

  11. Nick   16 years ago

Who said that was the First Lady, Fist?

    1. brotherben   16 years ago

Good point. With the short dark hair and the size if the hips holding up the blanket, I'm thinkin the devil in a blue dress has reappeared.

      1. Groovus Maximus   16 years ago

Devil in a red dress, bb. Pelosi was wearing red when the house passed the health care bill.

        Payback is a bitch!

    2. Fist of Etiquette   16 years ago

      Now that is racist.

      1. Jesse Jackson   16 years ago

I agree. It IS racist. But then, anything a white man says is racist.

  12. Buddy L   16 years ago

    A Fucking Plus!

  13. John C. Randolph   16 years ago

I like the "obama as pompous twit" approach. Well done.

    1. mark   16 years ago

Didn't you know "elitist" is a code word for racist? That's why I like this cartoon, there's no chance someone will mistake it for racist. I think.

  14. Team America   16 years ago

This week's FF has not been rated 10x unfunnier than last week's. Henry Payne has issued a press release crediting his talent.

  15. Spoonman   16 years ago

An overdone joke, but it is a joke, which is better than Chip Bok can do.

  16. Hillary Clinton   16 years ago

I would have made that decision when they woke me up at 3 AM.

    1. That Chick from Ohio   16 years ago

      Thread-winner! Funnier than the cartoon!

  17. P Brooks   16 years ago

Judging by the artwork, Payne has been looking through his back issues of the New Yorker, I'd say.

  18. Warren   16 years ago

    Not funny
    Tired punchline
    Poor artwork

    Grade: D-

  19. Enjoy Every Sandwich   16 years ago

Not too funny but accurate. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Obama's worshippers referring seriously to him as The Sun King.

  20. plisade   16 years ago

    Display background worthy.

  21. JB   16 years ago

    Another good one.

    Obama is such a loser.

  22. Cap'n NoStar   16 years ago

I appreciate how Henry Payne has drawn the biggest fascist since
George W. Bush showcasing the same puffed up chest and raised chin haughty postering that Obama copies from Mussolini.

This is an amusing and telling political cartoon. Bravo, Henry!

  23. William Walsh   16 years ago

I think it would be even better if the butler were prostrate and praying to Obama.

I pray to Obama (not for, TO). Prayer changes things.

    1. Wayne's World   16 years ago

Wayne Campbell, Garth Algar: [to Alice Cooper] We're not worthy! We're not worthy!
      Garth Algar: We're Scum!
      Wayne Campbell: We suck!

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wayne Campbell: I know I don't have his looks. I know I don't have his money. I know I don't have his connections, his knowledge of fine wines. I know sometimes when I eat I get this clicking sound in my jaw...

  24. prolefeed   16 years ago

Finally, a Friday Funny that made me laugh out loud!

  25. The Libertarian Guy   16 years ago

    Better caption:

"The sun is up. Issue a press release crediting my sunrising powers."

    Or something like that.

My God, does Obama fantasize about himself during sex? What a narcissist.

My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane. Even some cursory knowledge of Hebrew and doing some mathematics and logic will tell you that you really won't get the full deal by just doing regular skill english reading for those books. In other words, there's more to the books of the Bible than most will ever grasp. I'm not concerned that Mr. Crumb will go to hell or anything crazy like that! It's just that he, like many types of religionists, seems to take it literally, take it straight...the Bible's books were not written by straight laced divinity students in 3 piece suits who white wash religious beliefs as if God made them with clothes on...the Bible's books were written by people with very different mindsets...in order to really get the Books of the Bible, you have to cultivate such a mindset, it's literally a labyrinth, that's no joke
