Reason Foundation Analyst Shikha Dalmia Wins Int'l Policy Network's Bastiat Prize For Online Journalism!
We're very happy to announce that Shikha Dalmia, a senior policy analyst at Reason Foundation, the nonprofit that publishes Reason magazine, Reason.com, and Reason.tv, has won the first Bastiat Prize for Online Journalism, presented by the International Policy Network. In announcing the award, IPN's Julian Morris said, "Dalmia's articles for Forbes.com are brilliant exercises in quiet persuasion, challenging preconceptions regarding the supposed benefits of government intervention." Read more here.
Dalmia is a frequent contributor to Reason (she interviews pro-free-trade economist Jagdish Bhagwati in the new issue, on sale now). Her Forbes.com archive is here and her Reason archive is here.
Dalmia shares the award with Daniel Hannan, a British member of the European Parliament, a libertarian, and a vocal critic of government overreach.
Dalmia appeared in the Reason.tv video "Slumdog Thousandaire: What the celebrated movie can teach America about economic stimulus." Click below to watch.
Reason.tv's August interview with Daniel Hannan, which created international press, is below.

Good on ya!
Whoo Hooo! Congratulations Shikha.
Huzzah!
Congrats Shikha.
Congrats to Ms. Dalmia, I've enjoyed reading her work and it's refreshing to see a libertarian viewpoint taken seriously.
Congrats as well to Mr. Hannan. He's been a welcome antidote to the business as ususal attitude on that side of the Atlantic.
Hope this happens more often!
Well deserved!
Indeed congrats!
This was mentioned in another thread, but dare I say it?
"Durka durrr!"
Congratulations
Excelsior!
Yes! She has quickly become one of my favorites on the Reason staff!
Ditto to all the above. Not only is Shikha a terrific journalist and writer, she's a sweet, funny and totally genuine human being.
A Nobel antidote!
Much kudos to both Daniel and Shikah for the meaningful win!
great job, reason +
thanks
My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane. Even some cursory knowledge of Hebrew and doing some mathematics and logic will tell you that you really won't get the full deal by just doing regular skill english reading for those books. In other words, there's more to the books of the Bible than most will ever grasp. I'm not concerned that Mr. Crumb will go to hell or anything crazy like that! It's just that he, like many types of religionists, seems to take it literally, take it straight...the Bible's books were not written by straight laced divinity students in 3 piece suits who white wash religious beliefs as if God made them with clothes on...the Bible's books were written by people with very different mindsets...
is good
