I don’t get it. At least they put the guy who likes America in the foreground.

  2. Untermensch   16 years ago

I keep thinking there must be some point to this, but I just can’t find one. Bok had been on a roll for a while, usually passing the minimal bar of the Marmaduke and Cathy tests, but this one sailed cleanly under both.

  3. Cracker's Boy   16 years ago

    Bok is a racist.

  4. JLM   16 years ago

He’s got a highly decorated general who is waging a war for him, and he just got a peace prize- many medals for bombing the shit out of somebody and one for “peace”. I think that is the point.

  5. Art-P.O.G.   16 years ago

A Ranger Tab is actually way cooler than a Nobel Peace Prize. Just sayin’.

    1. John Tagliaferro   16 years ago

      Second.

      Airborn wings too.

      1. hmm   16 years ago

I’m gonna go a step farther and say everything hanging or tacked to the General McChrystal’s full dress is more impressive than a Nobel Peace Prize. Even the buttons.

        1. Jewel   16 years ago

Even the toilet paper that accidentally stuck to his shoe.

  6. FrBunny   16 years ago

Why is McChrystal staring at Obama’s junk? Is Bok saying that the Peace Prize pulls mad gay tail? Cuz that’s funny.

    1. John Tagliaferro   16 years ago

      That’s not junk. It’s a piece prize.

    2. Groovus Maximus   16 years ago

Interesting take. So Is this really a DADT parody complete with Obama’s tu quoque prize?

  7. brotherben   16 years ago

Can one of the resident stoners tell me if Bok is funny when you’re ripped to the tits? Is this stuff like Whack Your Porcupine? Funny as hell when you’re toasted but nonsensical when you’re not?

    1. Nipplemancer   16 years ago

i have yet to determine the number of bonghits required to make Bok funny.

      1. hmm   16 years ago

Sounds like there is a need for a scientific experiment.

        1. Nipplemancer   16 years ago

Subject: #21 Jeff, 23 retail sales clerk and lead singer of In the Shadows, a Mercyful Fate cover band.
After 8 bonghits and a cherry coke, #21 stared at the cartoon for several minutes and began to laugh hysterically. twenty seven minutes later he was able to explain his laughter which had nothing to do with Bok’s cartoon.
It is this researcher’s opinion that there is in fact no amount of marijuana that can make Mr. Bok’s political cartoons any funnier than Ziggy.

  8. P Brooks   16 years ago

Is this a placeholder, until the actual editorial cartoon arrives?

  9. JohnD   16 years ago

JLM is a fool. The “peace” obama offers is the peace of the grave for America

  10. Fist of Etiquette   16 years ago

    Race is a bokist.

But is it possible Bok is conveying McChrystal looking at the Nobel and realizing that he’s not going to get his victory in Afghanistan?

Just a theory I’m submitting for peer review. Don’t hate on me.

  11. SugarFree   16 years ago

    Execrable.

    1. mark   16 years ago

I had to look that up. For a minute there I thought you were saying “excretable”.

  12. @   16 years ago

    I believe it’s called “irony.”

  13. Team America   16 years ago

Chip Bok is too subtle for you; you missed all the funny parts.

‘Hello, my name is McCrystal’ vs.
‘Hello, my name is Nobel Peace Prise’

    Haha.

The cartoon puts Obama in the Group of assassins with a middle name.

    Hoho.

  14. SugarFree   16 years ago

Political cartoons as they should be.

  15. mitch   16 years ago

This is Reason’s new “Write Your Own caption” contest.

  16. Enjoy Every Sandwich   16 years ago

The cartoon, while boring, does bring to mind a question that I’ve been wanting to ask our Nobel prizewinner: why the fuck is General McChrystal being “advised” by the neocon Kagans? That sure as hell won’t lead to victory or peace.

  17. Warren   16 years ago

    Not Funny
    Already fading from public consciousness
    Fair artwork

    Grade: D

  18. Unclaimed Mysteries   16 years ago

I’m a Garfield Minus Garfield kind of guy myself.

  19. mark   16 years ago

Definitely one of the best Chip Bok cartoons I’ve seen in a long time.

    1. Tholan   16 years ago

Why because it’s in color and isn’t over the top racist?

      …

Bok, do you have incriminating photos of Moynihan or Balko in a secret location? Or is it Gillespie himself that you have the goods on? You are aware of course that coercion ‘Ist zu den Liberalisten verboten ‘.

      1. mark   16 years ago

The conflict between Peace Prize winner Obama and his top general in Afghanistan, begging for more troops, is ripe for lampooning.

And Bok’s cartoons are usually not very good, so this one was pleasing to behold.

  20. jpocali   16 years ago

Critics are eunuchs at a gangbang.

    -George Burns

    1. Tholan   16 years ago

      I LOL’d.

  21. Tiffany and Links   16 years ago

Critics are eunuchs at a gangbang.

  22. abercrombie milano   15 years ago

My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I’m sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane.

  23. abercrombie milano   15 years ago

Definitely one of the best Chip Bok cartoons I’ve seen in a long time.

  24. nike shox   14 years ago

    is good
