Japan's Ruling Party Finally About to Get Bounced
Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic party is about to get bounced by voters for the first time in over a half of a century. The only real question: What took the voters so long?
To get a sense of what Japan has not been up to the past 15 years, watch Reason.tv's "Turning Japanese" video. And then worry over the fact that our government is following the exact same playbook.

Mockery is mean,
Pride before a fall.
Easy falls the crown-clad head
US will know soon.
Racist!
We're turning Japanese, I really think so!
"How can you possibly kill off so-called zombie businesses that still show signs of vigor?"
"Easy, ya just lead 'em a bit more."
Inscrutable occidentals.
For God'd sake Nick, don't leave that jacket in an unlocked car in London!
This is nit-picking, but that guy really shouldn't wear that necklace while being interviewed.
What recession? We're still touring!
What, no clips of Long Duk Dong? You know, to show 80's perceived Japanese dominance in the area of, I don't know, getting our tall, athletic, (some would say butch) high school girls.
(That's what happened to him in that movie, right?)
dbcooper is right. Instead of Japan a viewer focuses on how ridiculous the necklace is.
If Japan wants real change in leadership, they will have Hello! Project become the ruling party.
Not zombie business!
It lives only for destruction!
GOJIRA BUSINESS!
I wonder how well the "Happiness Realization Party" will fare. (See more here and here.)
Japan? We should be so lucky.
No, I'm pretty sure we're implementing the Zimbabwe economic plan.
Seems like the new regime wants to cut the economy's dependence on exports and grow domestically. The markets are reacting with falling equity and rising commodities.
Here comes the doom.
Michael Keaton "Hey these are nice ribbons
Sito "Those are ribbons of Shame!"
Michael Keaton "I'd wear them on the inside if I was you"

well not exactly for the _first_ time since the founding of the LDP.
The LDP lost its majority after the 1993 election.
It was replaced by a multi-party alliance of liberal reformers (both classical and social), social democrats, and a goodly number of conservatives who just happened to have been on the outs with their respective faction leaders with the LDP.
The Liberal Democrats resumed power after the 1996 election.

I don't think so, Fisty, if you refer to Molly Ringwald. Long Duk settled for his "new style American girlfriend" who'd "never been out with a boy before."

Oh, internets. Is there any limit to the number of times you can prove me wrong?
Wow, I can't believe it, is it possible???
