Attn. D.C. Area Reasonoids: Happy Hour, Thursday, May 21, 6.30 p.m. at The Big Hunt!
Please join Reason Magazine's D.C.-based staff for a happy hour this Thursday, May 21 at The Big Hunt in Dupont Circle, starting at 6.30 pm.
While we enjoy the spring weather on The Big Hunt's rooftop deck, we'll be celebrating:
-The release of our June issue, featuring Science Correspondent Ronald Bailey's comprehensive cover story on the Obama administration's positively Carteresque support for alternative energy subsidies. Bailey will be on hand to discuss kilowatt hours and the like.
-Reason being named a seven-time finalist in the L.A. Press Club's 51st annual Southern California Journalism Awards, beating all other California mags like a gong.
Special guests will include Reason Contributing Editor Kerry Howley, in town from corn country where she's pursuing an M.F.A. in creative nonfiction at the University of Iowa.
The Big Hunt is located at 1345 Connecticut Ave. NW, a block south of Dupont Circle. The fun starts at 6.30 pm and ends when you say so. We'll be in the upstairs bar enjoying $3 pints, on special throughout the night.
Hope to see you there!

So has Howley renewed the restraining orders against her hit and run stalkers?
Will Jesse Walker be there or is he based out of Michigan and can't come?
If you're celebrating the Southern California Journalism Awards, shouldn't the party be in Southern California, where you are supposedly based?
Seriously? The Big "Hunt"?
"Seriously? The Big "Hunt"?"
SO MANY BETTER DIVE BARS AROUND, WITHOUT THE ATROCIOUS, UGLY, FUMING, DESPICABLE, DEPRESSED, DESPERATE STAFF!
I use to love this place! You could get wasted with $20. However, nowadays, not only is that impossible(unless buy liquor from a liquor store). The Big Hunt was still an okay place to go and grab a few drinks and get wasted before you head out on the town.
HOWEVER, the service has been on a death-spiral here for sometime now and I personally think its right about DEAD now! Unless you like to deal with ugly, snooty, inane, sarcastic, rude, ignorant, bloated, and weirdo server/bartenders....I HIGHLY recommend someplace else, where at least they will appreciate your business.....Fox/Hounds or Townhouse Tavern....
DON'T SPEND YOUR PRECIOUS TIME OR YOUR HARD EARNED PRECIOUS $$$ HERE AT THE BIG JOKE CAUSE THE THE JOKE WILL BE YOU!

Who illustrates Reason's covers and why isn't he featured on Friday Funnies?
Something tells me Belleview Housing Projects got caught dipping into the tip jar at the Big Hunt.
To the Fox/Hounds proponent: too crowded. Very hard to get a big group in there. I was just back there on business (it was my local hangout when I lived in DC (84-94)) and there was a line down the block.
Isn't the Big Hunt located in the space that used to house the ultra-lefty bookstore "Common Concerns" that closed around the demise of the Soviet Union?
Just asking bcse if so, the irony of Reason holding happy hour there is to perfect!
Here's a suggestion, reason editors: don't use a 3 Meg picture file--2400px ? 3150px (scaled to 250px ? 328px--for a thumbnail in a post.
Why not, Epi? Are you going to break the comments again if they do?
When is the next Reason Happy Hour?
