ok, maybe I'm just slow this morning, but I don't get it.
I think the next pane would have Obama offering Roesgen a position in his administration as a reward for her aggressive advocacy of his policies.
Well done, I actually chuckled...
wait, so Obama learned that CNN is angry at Fox?
domo,
I think it's something about news channels having different viewpoints on issues. This can be unsettling to liberals fully committed to the myth of objective reporting. Like looking out your window one morning and seeing Bigfoot raping a chupacabra.
"This can be unsettling to liberals fully committed to the myth of objective reporting."
As if the pro-war, pro-Israel Fox network is objective in their reporting.
I will bless those that bless you.
wait, so Obama learned that CNN is angry at Fox?
Yea, and the implied message that legislation is needed to curb the unfair audience theft from CNN by FOX. It's about the jobs!
This one was pretty good. Props to Bok.
This also was excellent.
SF,
Looks like bookworm is a follower of the myth you point out.
This one was actually almost funny.
Happy Mayday/Labor Day, ya'll.
Even though I didn't LOL, I smirked 'cos it was clever.
And well-drawn.
APOG,
Is there any particular Mayday parade you prefer? I am astonished that Obama is not having one to promote friendship.
The only difference between the cartoon and real life is that the CNN reporter wasn't attacking FoxNews, the lady was attacking individuals at the Tea Party, ridiculing their beliefs and opinions as being held by some sort of "backwoods bumpkin".
Completely unprofessional for a reporter, it is a sad state of affairs when the supposedly objective news reporter turns into a political hatchet man for the powers that be.
Sad times.
Big Mike has a very selective memory.
High,
I'm actually pretty ignorant about the whole thing. I just recently started researching it. Do you have any suggestions?
"Looks like bookworm is a follower of the myth you point out."
You don't think Fox is biased, High? Remember Chris Wallace's snide remark to Ron Paul during one of the debates?
I had a similar thought. Chip (if that is his real name) perhaps could have drawn a disgruntled Chicogoan and his 2-year-old in place of that FoxNews cameraman.
Of course Fox News is biased. The point is that libruhls think CNN isn't.
Re: the cartoon - this is Bok's finest work to date. We'd better kill him now so he can go out on top.
Ok, so I still don't get it - I think it's a non-sequitor. but strangely, the delivery is very good compared to previous efforts. I urge Chip to explore the two-pane format more deeply. I think he is getting warmer...
Bok: reporters aren't voters?
High Every Body: Fox News calls themselves "Fair and Balanced". Who's zooming who?
Aspartame: you must be high already this morning. Everyone knows the chupacabra is the pitcher and Bigfoot is the catcher.
What is that whooshing noise over my head?
the innominate one,
Actually, they switch hit. But Bigfoot is too popular to catch for very long. Why has no one ever gotten photos of him? His giant dick always gets in the way.
What is that whooshing noise over my head?
Air Force One.
"Big Mike has a very selective memory."
At least he has one.
bookworm, and the rest of you clowns reading through your Leftoid glasses, of course FOX has a bias. Every human has a bias and news organizations are just collections of people.
Now, run right back up the thread and read what I wrote, you fucking idiots.
Warty gets it. Warty can read! robc as bookworm gets it and he made a good funny!

Air Force One.
Score!
The local paper followed the dominant narrative paradigm and claimed the Tea Party protests were all a Republican plot and called every non-millionaire who went a dupe. They pitched the whole movement as being a protest about the sunsetting of the Bush tax cuts and absolutely nothing more. Or, at least, that's what they did when they weren't throwing out non sequiters about the Iraq War protests like Mardi Gras beads to topless chicks.

insanity, SugarFree, you don't waste your beads on chicks who are already topless...
You know nothing about the Mardi Gras bead-based economy. You don't throw them until they get topless. Maybe this is why your bead company mutual fund isn't doing so well.
SugarFree, you read a newspaper? You must be really fucking old.
This is a pretty good one, but it would have been even better (and more accurate) if she was beating up a regular tea party protester instead of a Fox News cameraman.
Guess My Bra Size,
"Big Mike has a very selective memory."
At least he has one.
Now that is some ironic there. You are a funny one.
Warty,
I only read it for the pictures.
You guys totally missed the funny part:
"Voters are fickle, Sir."
Hahahahahahahaha!
Whee.
You know nothing about the Mardi Gras bead-based economy.
I'm very worried about deflation.
Artificial inflationary cycles can also heavily distort the market.
Is there any particular Mayday parade you prefer?
Well, they're currently working on a new album, so I may want to hold off on answering that.
A little inflationary distortion in the mardi gras market is something even libertarians can get behind.

Why don't you just send out the bat signal for Epi? Mentioning behinds and all.

***
Down here in the Springfield Missouri area, the paradigm was "everyone who attended the Tea Parties are racist, inbred goobers".
And they came up with that BEFORE Janeane Garafolo spouted her "they're all racists" tripe.
Lather, rinse, repeat, get a lobotomy, join ACORN.
"bookworm, and the rest of you clowns reading through your Leftoid glasses"
I'm not a leftoid. I don't like bias on the left or right. The news media should strive for objectivity. They all claim to be objective, but they're not.
The Libertarian Guy,
Nice. Their insults can only manage to span the insignificant gap between stupid and stupid racists.
You have pr0n in your newspaper?
Depends on how low you dial your defintion of such...
My wife is a fan, I usually just shake my head at the opinion pages and grab the crossword.
I laughed and don't know why.
Lather, rinse, repeat, get a lobotomy, join ACORN.
Heh. No loopy rant is complete without working in ACORN.

BAHAHAHAHA! When did they ever do that?

SF! HAHA!!!
Says who? Objective media was really only a myth created by the yellow press in the early 20th century as a marketing gimmick to establish their product as, somehow or another, indispensible.
Chupacabra rape is NEVER FUNNY. NOT OK!
At least Bok had the good sense to draw the cartoon with the girl on top. Otherwise, there'd be hell to pay.
CNN is pretty middle of the road. Their news reporting is pretty bland and objective for the most part, and their one real blowhard commentator, Lou Dobbs, is hardly a pinko. And even though Republican affiliation in this country is 20% and declining I bet they're not gonna stop giving 50% of the political commentary airtime to Republicans.
I agree the 2-pane thing is a good development.
Sadly, it's not enough.
This was the best Reason cartoon in recent memory. I know, that's not saying much.
The CNN reporter needs to be beating up a protester, though.
Where the hell is Pete Bagge, and why hasn't he done a 4 page treatment of the tea parties yet?
Rachel Madow* could totally kick Anderson Cooper's ass.
*I know, I know- she works for MSNBC. Blah blah blah.
You people make me sick! How can you discuss media bias when Obama allows Chupacabra rape to happen?!?!?!?!
This one had me spitting up my water...Lol...I enjoyed it.
Bias is in the eye of the believer.
This was one of Bok's better works, but I will suggest improvements anyway:
Show a little penguin in the bush saying like, "I agree with CNN, those tea party folk are crazy" and then show a pig who is wiping his nose saying "yeah, their beliefs won't reign until I fly!" and it would be better if you could add sound and actually make the pig's voice sound sick, and show the lady from Britain's Got Talent like, "you may fly someday little pig, I did!" and then a little man next to the other reporters and he is labelled MSNBC and he is like "Hey guys, can I play?" and maybe some Muslim pirates in a little boat in the distance like "we may hate pigs, but thank you for taking the heat off us!" and like a silly little gag could be like GW wuz here carved into the desk in the first panel.
There is one difference between Fox and the other cable news networks. Murdoch will openly admit he and his holdings lean towards the conservative.

You really need to spend some time looking at Neilson ratings. CNN is getting slaughtered. You are making a common mistake, especially among liberals, conservative minded and republican are not the same thing. I'd rather watch something mildly conservative, and admits to the being so, that I disagree with than MSNBC or CNN swallow Big O juice and claim impartial reporting. CNN isn't bland. It's dead. MSNBC is dying. Vitriolic left leaning news is supported in the US market. Otherwise Air America would be rockin' the airwaves and NPR would not have "public" in their name.
*isn't supported*

"I only read it for the pictures.
You have pr0n in your newspaper?"
French Newspaper?
Haha good call. I think CNN might actually be trying to one-up Fox on crazy. That's a game nobody will win.
@hmm: Mildly conservative? Are you serious? Do you actually *watch* Fox? Those guys are rabid, and not in the principled, liberty-minded good kind of conservative way. I mean, Olberman and Madow are occasionally (okay often) grossly stupid but the fact that they usually appear calm and sane and can give principled, if flawed, arguments for their liberal ideology beats the hell out of the foaming-at-the-mouth screeching sensationalism and fearmongering found daily on Murdoch's noise networks. Another thing: when MSNBC folks read party line press releases word for word, they typically let you know they're doing it first.
is good
THANK U
