Competing Tea Party Songs?
Option 1: Anthem of the anti-tax Tea Party protest, written and performed by self-described "Black American Conservative Lloyd Marcus" in defense of capitalism:
Option 2: This little ditty—the product of capitalism—performed by fictional rapping preppies to advertise alcoholic tea beverages:
Bonus query: Could the Smirnoff ad be the missing link between the tea parties and the white nationalist movement?

Obviously. But you have to play it backwards, first.
Any other NYC Reason types attending tomorrow's event?
Yo, my name is Tay
and I'm here to say
that I drink tea
in a major way
worrrrrrrrrrrrrrd
The Dallas Tea Party is in front of city hall instead of the Dallas Federal Reserve building. It doesn't seem like the event was well thought out.
Doesn't matter, I got a Mavs game to attend that night. Last regular season game. Next week the playoffs.
Cartman_Tea_Party
As long as no one suggests anything from The Tea Party, Canucks were probably more exposed to this garbage due to Canadian content. Jim Morrison covers Zeppelin.....
Of course Alex Harvey's "Boston Tea Party" is out of the question...
Now if the porn industry sponsors a mass tea-bagging event, I am there...
Quite a few Tea Parties nationwide are playing Cry Freedom as part of their themed selections. Kind of cool since I wrote and sang on it. Been getting several inquires a day for the MP3/CD.
Yo, my name is Tay
Sing "Chocolate Rain" for us!
Attention news media:
Just because Stormfront.org -- the loser repository of the internet -- supports something doesn't mean that it's a white nationalist event.
There's overlap between white nationalists and paleocons. There are also many who read Spengler and recognize that diversity has never worked, throughout history (disagree? name the shining examples).
Just like all liberal groups contain communists, anything right of Clinton is going to have a few WNs and Nazis in the group.
The best sites to observe paleoconservative white nationalism are:
http://www.amren.com/
http://www.originaldissent.com/
Disclaimer: I am a blogger/journalist who covers extreme politics of all types on the blog http://www.extremepolitics.org. I am hopelessly biased in favor of extremists who can complete a coherent sentence, so I don't read Stormfront.org.
A for effort on the "Tea Partaaaay" vid. But they get a number of details wrong in attempting to portray what I assume is some representation of Eastern old money WASPs. For instance, and I think particularly relevant to this subject, the social caste being parodied would never in a million years be caught dead engaged in insider trading or any business that ran the risk of being associated with such. To the New Haven Line set, that sort of naked profit-seeking was vulgar, to be left to the Milkens and Trumps of the world, who care not for public service, charity, and the like.
Sing "Chocolate Rain" for us!
Not until you pay my fee of one million theoretical dollars, fuckface.
I for one cannot WAIT to see some of the signs from the, eh, Non-Partisan Tax Awareness Rallies. Birchers, Birthers.......should be interesting.
Bonus query: Could the Smirnoff ad be the missing link between the tea parties and the white nationalist movement?
Because only racists could be against taxes!!
Racist!
Warty, I already have that video of you singing "What What (In the Butt)", so you can cram those million theoretical dollars wherever your species traditionally crams things.
And Cool Cal is correct. Getting popped for insider trading would be unbelievably embarrasing for the Wadsworth Atheneum set. Money is something you already have--you don't make it. How gauche.
The third contender for best tea party song is a rhythmic chant of "Greed is Good/I've got mine, Jack" with a baby crying in the background. The bridge consists of a Kochtopus roaring.
Meanwhile, both supporters and opponents might find my coverage of the tea parties useful.
Opponents should stress the Koch link, the strong objectivist/"greed is good"/"I've got mine, Jack" undercurrent, and the fact that the leaders of the party support something that their useful idiot followers most likely oppose.
Supporters should wise up and do #3 on my list instead.
Because only racists could be against taxes!!
No, just idiots. There's some overlap there.
Meanwhile, both supporters and opponents might find my coverage of the tea parties useful.
No, they won't.
STUF, Lonewacko!
"Meanwhile, both supporters and opponents might find my coverage of the tea parties useful."
Thanks! I'll print it right up and wipe my Jew ass with it.
Shut the fuck up, Lonewacko. This thread already got all the loathsome it needed when Epi showed up.
Tony: I accidentally fathered your son. My bad.
I'm going to attend with a simple "Taxation is Theft" sign, featuring a masked Uncle Sam with a pistol.
Solana,
This NYC reason type is planning on attending. I'm happy that it's late enough so that people can go after work, I just hope that this won't put me on Janet Napoliano's List
Off topic, but interesting NY Science Times article today on how taxation is part of our biological make up
This thread already got all the loathsome it needed when Epi showed up.
Warty, does that make you Dr. Gonzo?
Epi, as your attorney, I advise you to take some more ether.
Look out, Chris Kelly is here with some of his hardcore and hard-hitting reporting!
Hold your Peabodies close, Old Media!
I'll be the hitchhiking kid.
"I've never ridden in a convertible before!"
Dr. Warty, this is what I pay you $400/hour for? Pass me the acid.
Fuck no, Epi, are you insane? That acid is guarded by lizards.
I'm going to attend with a simple "Taxation is Theft" sign, featuring a masked Uncle Sam with a pistol.
You can do better than that. Dress up like the AtlasShrugged "Reverse Robin Hood" pirate, the one who steals aid shipments in order to give the taxes back to their rightful owners [1].
Then, enlist a friend to play BHO, and take back the gold bars that he stole from the taxpayers.
Great street theater, I tell you!
[1] No, really, that's one of the book's "heroes":
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Characters_in_Atlas_Shrugged#Ragnar_Danneskj.C3.B6ld
I nominate Moby's Party Time. A tea party can also be a rave, right?
Chris, I know they have libraries in Hollywood (oh, your anti-elitist irony is delish). At least get the Cliffs Notes to Atlas Shrugged and stop being such a dishonest little prick.
Do you care if I call you, Chris?
stfulw
For even more impactful street theater, enlist several friends as BHO supporters and have them dress up as wait staff. Then, show your opposition to BHO and support for fiscal responsibility by stiffing them out of their tips.
Extra bonus tip: make sure and have news stations video tape that. let's spread the message of "liberty" and "freedom" far and wide!
Oh, if only LoneDickless were unintentionally funny besides being a dipshit.
Chris Kelly: Where potentially funny threads go to die.
But...Ragnar Danneskjold did steal aid shipments so he could return taxes to their rightful owners.
Just because it sounds stupid doesn't mean it wasn't in the stupid book.
Joel, no one said it wasn't in the book. Just that the "truthiness" of the presentation was severely lacking.
Lonewhacko:
Do not listen to the naysayers! Keep fighting for us! We need you!
To everyone:
Don't you realize that we would be 17% less free if we didn't have the insight and courage of Lonewhacko? That 17% includes the freedom to say STFU LONEWHACKO!
Because only racists could be against taxes!!
No, just idiots. There's some overlap there.
Tony likes to be taxed 5 times a day in every orifice.
Because only racists could be against taxes!!
"No, just idiots. There's some overlap there."
Way to demonstrate your lack of idiocy there Tony.
You anti-tax people are stupid, stupid, stupid. Because I said so. Racist.
But...Ragnar Danneskjold did steal aid shipments so he could return taxes to their rightful owners.
Just because it sounds stupid doesn't mean it wasn't in the stupid book.
If aid shipments to Zimbabwe were being taken by Mugabe and used to selectively starve his political opponents, sorta like in Stalinist Russia, what would be wrong with stealing them and giving the money back to the taxpayers?
Because only racists could be against taxes!!
Racism is a legitimate form of political expression, like hatred of the rich.
Whether we like it or not, we need to respect its validity.
I suggest better tea-related songs.
First, for American-made tea rap, the... uh, the Tea Cup Mafia.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNMdUAyHxuU
But honestly, the only good tea rap is Elemental's Cup of Brown Joy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eELH0ivexKA
Unfortunately, Elemental's song is so self-consciously British that it probably wouldn't work as an anthem for poorly-educated populist wingnuts trying to artificially create resonance between an imagined heroic American past and their current concern of the moment.
But it's still a great, great song.
Tea Partay... that is the frickin' funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
I forget the name of the "leader" of the Central African Republic, but the guy is the poster child for kleptocracy and aid theft. He's a billionaire a few times over in a country with a per capita GDP of about $400.
Those two songs are good. But honestly they top 2 trillion tons. It on youtube.
How about an Ice T party?
Or should I have posted that on the DHS thread?
I wanna pay more taxes. How do I do that? I feel guilty that I'm keeping so much of the money that I earn. Can someone please help?
Taxes are Patriotic! And I'm a Patriot.
And a big fat liar...
I like the first song best, but the second one was hilarious.
There are also many who read Spengler and recognize that diversity has never worked, throughout history (disagree? name the shining examples).
Chinese were quite diverse and culturally successful before the emergence of a national identity. Spengler, good read, but not scientific.
Of course, the same is true with the British. Here is a hint, the words, 'skunk', and 'municipality', not the same source. You have to come to the Lincolnesque twist of logic that national identity came before the various people who make up that identity to support the underlying argument you make. Sorry, that is not how history occurred in any case.
The shining example of diversity that worked is the Roman Empire. Emperors from Europe, Africa and Asia, polygot languages, crazy quilt of religions, and still it grew and grew.
Romans would sacrifice and pray to the G-ds of their opponents, offering them better worship than their adherents if only the local G-ds would remain neutral. Carthage was only defeated after the "Great Mother" was brought to Rome and her worship established.
Then, when the Emperor Constantine decided to end relgious diversity, he created the opportunity for religious wars, religious rebellions, religious riots. Roman religious bigots mad a point of offending allies who differed from orthodoxy in some unknown and unknowable point. These rejected allies include the Arians, Nestorians, Copts, and Pelagians.
The narrow minded Chrisitians lost the empire that the inclusive pagans won.
Constantinopole was taken after the walls of Theodosius were battered by cannon developed by a Christian Hungarian, working for the tolerant and inclusive Turks, and the assault was led by Jannisaries, the children of Christians converted to Islam.
I wouldn't really say Christianity brought down the Roman Empire. It assimilated other peoples so well because it developed an expansionary formula: incorporate all conquored peoples into the legions, turn around and keep conquoring. Then reward the old veterans with land in some recently conquored territory. The promise of land as a reward inspired loyalty to the Roman Empire in the new legionaires. Rinse and repeat.
Of course, we're talking about the Roman Empire here, which was basically run by a military dictatorship.
I suppose it proves that even military dictatorships can be sucessful for a long time.
It was a long time between Carthage and Constantine. The Punic Wars were under the Republic. There is a difference. It's important.
We never mention it, but Rome had a hell of a plague in 165 AD. Really cleared the place out, and wiped out some legions too. Didn't "decimate" them--completely wiped them out. Rome didn't amount to much after that.
Not particularly sexy (except to epidemiology fans), not very applicable to politics (unless...), but that's the real story on Rome.
