Shoot Out the Lights
It began as a routine traffic stop in Salinas, California. A police department spokesman says an officer pulled over an SUV because one of its license plate lights wasn't working. As he walked towards the vehicle, that officer, for some reason officials didn't explain, thought he had been shot. Not shot at, but actually shot. So he started firing at the SUV. Another officer also started firing. It turns out the first officer had not been shot. No weapons were found in the SUV, and neither of its occupants was charged with any crime. Despite the officers firing several rounds at them from just a few feet away, neither of the SUV occupants was hurt.
