Michigan Approves Medical Marijuana
The Marijuana Policy Project reports that Michigan voters have approved a medical marijuana initiative that will "permit terminally and seriously ill patients to use medical marijuana with their doctors' approval." The Wolverine State is the 13th state to allow basic decency to rule the day.

And MA bans state income tax!
My bad! I miss read the result.
YAY!
Woah! I'm shocked that the rustiest of the rust-belt actually approved this. Congrats to Michigan for voting against marijuana paranoia!
Good for them. Good to see some good news come out of this election.
This may be the only bright spot to come out of this election.
Anybody with news on the Mass. decrim question?
I did my bit this morning... And a pleasure it was...
I was wondering the same thing. Last I heard it was looking like it was going to pass but I don't live there so I am not certain of anything.
Not only did Proposition One pass, but Scotty Boman is polling roughly 2% for the Senate.
I went to the polls in MI specifically for this proposal. Woohoo us!
Sorry about the gay marriage ban last time around.
likely best news of the night
Boston.com has question 2 winning. They declared it a few minutes ago.
That is pot is Decriminalized. Woo hoo!!!!
The question is, will Obama have the DEA interfering and overriding state laws.
Of course he will! Too much of the Federal power depends on the justification provided by the war on black jazz musicians for him to give it up.
One nice thing in the next 8 years will be mocking Obama supporters as their dreams of a new dawn inevitably turn to ashes.
""permit terminally and seriously ill patients to use medical marijuana with their doctors' approval"
The problem is that Michigan doctors will hesitate to approve medical marijuana for anyone because of a well-founded fear that the DEA will come after them.
Perhams the state of Michigan can distribute information pamphlets to federal jurors, advising them that federal prosecution of medical marijuana users is unconstitutional.
Of course, there would still be the civil forfeiture problems.
CONGRATS TO J SUB D!!
Michigan FTW!
Finally some good news out of Michigan!
I'm not home to celebrate (schoolin' and all that) but I feel the need to ingest something.
Where is J sub? Already celebrating?
I almost don't want to ruin what many have rightly called the best news of the night, but how sad is it that this vote was even needed? It should be a given that sick people can do what they want to help themselves. And unsick people for that matter.
Fuck yeah, only reason I voted.
Plus you can buy spirits in Ottawa County, MI on Sundays now...and go go embryonic stem cells!
Keep DOPE ALIVE !!!
The beer prop passed in Ottawa County? Great news.
Like, wow man. This is so totally cool. Play some King Crimson dude.
The question is, will Obama have the DEA interfering and overriding state laws.
I don't see Obama, who by all the evidence is a go-along-to-get-along guy, spending any political capital change current DEA policy.
Obama said he would not have DEA interfear w/medical marijuana it's on youtube
