Rainbow Coalition Update
As a public service, we present some highlights from the lineup currently scheduled for Ron Paul's Republican counterconvention: ex-wrestler and ex-governor Jesse Ventura, country singer Rockie Lynne, pop singer Aimee Allen, reporter and brothel-vote-rallier Tucker Carlson, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, Republican activist Grover Norquist, VJ-turned-podcaster Adam Curry, and a Sinatra impressionist. So far, alas, there's no sign of Arlo Guthrie or the Sex Pistols.

Does anybody understand what Ron Paul is trying to accomplish since he ended his campaign?
No Sonny Landham?
Is Naomi Klein going to be at this one?
Epi,
Is that the guy from Predator who needed a body guard to protect others on the set?
Also, is Arlo the one who wrote all of those socialistic songs that are taught in public school to kids across America, or would that be Woodie?
Wow, I am so outside of the Dr. Paul scene man.
No Martha Quinn?
What about the Stormfront folks? Are they banned from attending or just not invited yet?
Well, there is the point that white is not a color of the rainbow . . .

Arlo is the son of Woody who was the author of This Land is Your Land. Arlo's is best known for the hippie classic Alice's Restaurant and a fairly decent folk song City of New Orleans.*
* Which, to my surprise, he didn't write
J sub - "Coming Into Los Angeles" was probably Arlo's best song, IMO.
ProL,
Downtown Julie Brown needs to make an appearance.
What about some of those Truthers? I mean the famous actor ones, not the ones who show up at the rallys. Like Rosie.
What about Donna D'errico? I'd happily drive to Minnesota to fulfill one of my teenage fantasies.
@Guy Montag: They said Jesse Ventura is going to be there.

It is hard to argue with the sentiments expressed in that one.
Sounds like a very entertaining lineup -- far better than anything the Republicans could scrape up.
Anyone know if there will be a live netcast?
Interesting that Grover Norquist is going to be there in the first place, but what makes it doubly interesting is the fact Tucker Carlson, who has referred to Norquist as a "humorless, dishonest little creep" and "the leering, drunken uncle everybody wished would just stay home", will be the emcee.
The Paul campaign has promised a major entertainment act to be announced this week.

Strippers for Ron Paul?

Penn and Teller?
Kinky Friedman?
Alex Jones?
Rudy Giuliani in drag?
svf,
Rudy Giuliani in drag?
Rosie has already been suggested.
What about Barr? He's hinted strongly that he'll be making an endorsement at the rally, and if he does make an endorsement (as opposed to just sitting out), it's almost certain to be Barr.
Can't we call it the Rainbow Party instead?
That sounds much more fun.

What ABOUT Bob? 😉

White is ALL the colors of the rainbow, you insensitive clod.

No offense to Ron Paul, but I'm not sure if he knows what "major entertainment act" means. Remember that Bagge comic that recounts him saying that Barry Goldwater, Jr. was a celebrity?
I'm hoping Paul endorses Barr at the counter-convention. That would shake off a lot of the conspiracy guys that think Barr is a CIA plant from the libertarian movement.
When talking inherent colour and albedo, white is the *absence* of all colours of the rainbow... unless he's actually glowing, like Ahmadinejad, or Obama.
As for Ventura: he exudes large smelly clouds of 9/11 Troof. If he's there, the stench of FAIL will cling to everyone else.
I'm hoping Paul endorses Barr at the counter-convention.
Yeah, I don't see it though. He just can't seem to tell people what to do... hell, Ron barely even asked people to vote for HIM in the primaries, he just put the information out there and hoped for the best.
I foresee a vague "vote your conscience and principles" statement that could be perceived as endorsing either Barr or Baldwin or neither or writing him in -- damn, I do hope he at least tells people NOT to write in Ron Paul .....
unless, of course, he's officially launching his presidential write-in campaign at the rally. Wouldn't that be fun.
and we had wholesome familyvalues ZZTop(Pearl Necklace) and Ted Nugent(Stranglehold) at the TexasGOP dinner at Bushes 04 Victory party....
and the Reason people(and its remora-like posters) ha-ha and dismiss Ron Paul and his message and his supporters...
how easy and convenient to mock and dismiss and derisivly point fingers isnt it you POTS????.....now you can get back at attack Obama and HIS socialist paternalism....
Thanks for your consistant advocacy of freedom..
reason sucks
If Paul endorses anybody it would more or less have to be Barr. He's already told people that a write in campaign would be a waste of time and Baldwin isn't on the ballot in Texas. I can't see him endorsing 1 person and then voting for someone else. The real question is, will the Barr campaign be smart enough to have a presence at the rally?
Does John Mayer count as a "major entertainment act"?
Grover Norquist's presence is, to say the least, interesting. Maybe he's starting to have second thoughts about the state of the "Leave Us Alone Coalition" after he's been getting beaten down left and right (ok, mostly right) by the religious nanny staters on just about every issue/
