The rEVOLution Versus That Old Guy Who Hates Celebrities
The AP notices that Ron Paul supporters and other libertarian types are making John McCain's life painful in the West.
Even if the numbers of such dissenters are small, in tight contests in key Western states they could spoil McCain's chances, experts say.
"In Nevada, there's absolutely enough to have an effect on the election," said Chuck Muth, a leading conservative activist in a state in which early polls show McCain and Democratic candidate Barack Obama in a statistical tie.
"I think that you will see not just Libertarians who always vote for the Libertarian candidate but conservative Republicans saying we've had it, we've had enough and they're going to go ahead and vote Libertarian," Muth said.
I want to see what Ryan Sager has to say about this. Paul voters aren't just angry about McCain for the boutique libertarian reasons, like the war in Iraq or the war on drugs. The conservative base that turns out the vote in the Reno burbs and Esmerelda County includes a lot of people furious at McCain on immigration. Hence Bob Barr's careful rhetoric about the border. Hence worrying about the "none of the above" vote in Nevada (it's an option on the ballot).
A side note about that McCain "Celebrity" ad. Didn't his new campaign manager help elect Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Is a county of 1,262 enough to really have a base?
I had no idea Nevada, or any state, put 'none of the above' on its ballots. That is awesome.
I believe Nevada's the only one. I wish there were more campaigns for it.
Barr's "careful rhetoric about the border"? Why not just admit he's trying to fool people?
Here's a first draft of something I'd ask him:
"Do you support a) MassDeportations, b) reducing the numbers of IllegalAliens over time ThroughAttrition, c) some FormOfLegalization for current IllegalAliens, or d) something else?"
If c), how do you intend to push through your FBBFBPTHNCOEH after having given those groups that currently OpposeEnforcement - including the far-left, racial power groups, BusinessGroups, and the MexicanGovernment - even more power than they already have? Any FormOfLegalization - no matter what you call it - would give even more power to those groups that currently OpposeEnforcement, and they'd use the new power you'd give them to even more strongly OpposeEnforcement. Are you sure you've thought this through?
When McCain bitchslapped Paul in one of the debates I think that turned a lot of Paul's supporters irreparably off McCain.
And it gained McCain absolutely nothing.
Hey Orange Line Special... Barr has already stated, on film, that he supports the immediate deportation of anyone found to be in this country illegally.
Just because you haven't seen him give the answer that doesn't mean it hasn't been given yet.
Orange Line,
Why are you making trouble for Barr, when he's making trouble for the first half of McCain-Kennedy?

1. Most sockpuppets at least are creative enough to think up a fake name.
2. I doubt whether it was on "film".
3. Did you read the link? Do you understand that the actions he's referring to would be against those IllegalAliens caught after his plan?
4. Did you click through from that link to this page, and then listen to the Barr radio interview where he supports some FormOfLegalization?
I've written thousands of posts about the wider issue over several years, so I have a good idea what certain things mean and what they imply. And, I have to admit that I'm shocked by the degree to which Barr is able to channel the same misleading rhetoric offered by people like BHO and McCain. Where did he get it from?

In a Republican primary, any act of bitchslapping benefits the slapper. Even if...no, especially if...the target doesn't amount to much.
Good show, lone wanker. Once again ThemWetbacks are the most god damn important thing to be worrying about. No one on this site gives a fuck.
I guess the western states have a fondness for a Truther-sympathizing nut who publishes virulently bigoted newsletters.
