Eric Dewayne Baylis went to Athens, Georgia, for a conference. That's where a maid found his gun in his hotel room. Baylis he didn't realize the hotel he was staying in was owned by the University of Georgia. That made it school property and put him in violation of a state law banning firearms in and around schools. He found out when university police arrested him. Georgia Center director Bill Crowe says the hotel will add firearms to the list of forbidden items and activities it provides to guests.
