Opt Out
The administration of Las Vegas, New Mexico's Robertson High School sent out three separate notices telling students that attendance at a baccalaureate at Immaculate Conception Church was mandatory for graduating seniors. But when local media, the ACLU and the Public Education Department began asking questions about the requirement, principal Richard Lopez insisted the service was optional and students could opt out by talking to him. But the Las Vegas Optic reports Lopez did not return calls asking about his definition of "mandatory."
