Friday Fun Link
Iggy and the Stooges' concert rider.
Possibly the best of the genre.

How is Iggy still alive? The man is an immortal.
Jesus, he looks like some kind of horrible mushroom that sprouted overnight.
Detroit rocks.

That which does not kill you, makes you stronger.
BTW, Van Halen used to get a lot of crap about the tour rider that required M&Ms with the brown ones removed. There was actually a reason for that, according to David Lee Roth. They played in a lot of places that didn't normally host big concerts and apparently had a lot of problems with the promoters not providing adequate structural and electrical equipment for a show of that size, in direct violation of the tour rider. They added the M&M requirement to see if the promoter had actually read the rider and made some effort to comply. If the brown M&Ms were still there, they knew to check everything very carefully.
The Stooges were enjoyed by four fans who later formed a little ensamble called the Ramones!
You beat me to it ChrisO. I think the real story to the Van Halen brown M&M rider is better than the myth. It was actually pretty clever of them.
I also read DMX's. He apparently requires 3 boxes of condoms. Pitty the poor bastard cleaning up that dressing room.
!Friday Fun Link New Wave Link!
(I posted this OT on a thread right after I found it on YouTube cuz I was so jazzed and I said I would re-post on the next Friday Fun Link.)
Didja ever wonder why Bananrama became the top selling girl group in history? (It wwasn't just cuz they were so hot.) Here's an indication. This is their first single and my YouTube comments:

Wow! Thanks for posting this rare and crucial gem! This is the song that so impressed the Fun Boy Three and that gave serious impetus to Bananarama's career. It's an African tune. They were quite the rage for a while in the punk/New Wave scene. The gorgeous singing that the girls do on this tune first made clear they were a way out of the ordinary talent. I don't wanna stop listening to it.
That doc is Hy-Larry-Us. Best Friday Fun Link of 2008 easy.
I was hoping this would be a Stooges rider from 1970, which would probaby read something like:
1) burgers.
2) smokes.
3) Heroin.
The gorgeous singing that the girls do on this tune first made clear they were a way out of the ordinary talent.
Whatever that guy's on, I want some.
Iggy took his cues from "The Keith Richard's Guide for Clean Living."
I'd like to think Lester Bangs had a hand in writing this up.
Sigh. Punk is truly dead.

Just cuz all your taste is in your mouth doesn't mean that I'm high. 😉 Enjoy

Wow, I'd almost forgotten how dreadful the '80s were. Thanks for reminding me.

highnumber,
Brilliant! My fave by them: "Our House"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SceUX2HOHeU&feature=related
Not that "Our House" isn't a great song (it is), but their first two albums are just so damn good, with the second being an underrated gem and my personal fave, that everyone needs to get those into their heads before we can move onto their later, more popular tunes.
On the Stiff tip, have you checked out YepRoc's re-release of Jesus of Cool? Good, good stuff. Talk about pure pop for now people! Whoa.
Pat Benatar
