Police officials in Wigan, England, say two community support officers acted properly when they did not enter a pond to save a drowning 10-year-old boy. Two fishermen jumped into the six-foot-deep water and saved the boy's eight-year-old stepsister. But they were too late to save the boy. The two support officers responded to the clamor, but instead of jumping in the pond to help find the boy, they simply radioed for help. Police officials say the two were not trained for such work. The boy's body was found several minutes later, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
