Zimbabwean police arrested Tapiwa Chiminga and held him for three days on charges of using "threatening, abusive or insulting word likely to provoke the breach of peace." Chiminga, a trainee journalist with the government-owned New Zimbabwe Inter Africa News agency, asked a police officer why the police had banned opposition rallies in Harare. He also asked the officer if police felt guilty for killing one opposition figure and torturing another.
