It's On America's Tortured Brow That Mickey Mouse Has Grown Up a Cow
Looks like the Palestinian entertainment czar didn't wish upon the right star.
A program using a Mickey Mouse-like character to urge Palestinian children to fight Israel and the West and work for world Islamic domination has been pulled off Hamas's television station for "review," Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said Wednesday.
Barghouti said the use of the cartoon character in such a role represented a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.
Barghouti wrote that following a request from his ministry, the program was pulled from the Hamas-affiliated Al Aksa TV and "placed under review."
And the man is worried that worldwide media attention put his efforts in the wrong light.
Barghouti complained that the Mickey Mouse story continued to receive attention by "some American television stations" after it was resolved, and that media did not broadcast video of Israeli human rights violations supplied by his ministry in recent weeks.
When Israeli turns Sebastian the Crab into a spokesman for Kadima, then we'll broadcast that video.
So no one has to wonder about the headline…

Looks more like Underdog than Mickey to me.
(True story - Polly Purebred was my first true love. Whenever Simon Barsinister would threaten her, I would hide under my bed until Mom or Dad told me it was okay to come out. That Underdog had saved the day. I barely remember, but I hear about it at every reunion type thing.)
Ha! What did I say about Disney's copyright lawyers when this first surfaced?
Never ever mess with the Mouse.
At least they didn't use an octopus.
That Bowie shot really wigs me out.
Wigs me out. Really.
You can wage jihad, hate the Jewish race,
Blow yourselves up all over the place,
But don't
Mess with my intellectual property
You can do anything,
But the Mickey Mouse logo belongs to me
I still have to wonder about the Headline. All I get is white space the size of a YouTube vid.
I was under the impression that Mickey Mouse is dead
Of course you won't bother showing Palestinian children killed, abducted (and held in prison), or otherwise abused by the Israelies since it's so mundane.
bill, i'll let you watch that video and then spend a minute or two pondering cause and effect.
More mickey mouse lyrics:
Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Dave's on sale again
Everything Zen
Bush
yeah saying we will resist the occupation very bad, but using kids as human shield - not so much.
Anyone else wondering if Disney is, in fact, the primary force behind global Islamoterrorism?
edna,
Huh? Yeah OK, they act like the hate mongering children of hate mongering adults. But they are still, you know, children. They aren't the cause of any geopolitical unrest, and they don't deserve to suffer.
Yes Edna, let's start in 1948 when Palestinians were forced off the lands they had lived on for generations, subsequent Israeli agression (1956, 1967, Lebanon), the land grabs, the apartheid state that is Israel with its continuous violations of international law and the Geneva Conventions. Cause and effect indeed!
Somehow, I think he was worried that it might put their efforts in the right light.
de stijl,
You have no reason for shame. Polly Purebred was tres hawt.
Bill Pope, thanks for setting us straight. Palestinians good, Jews bad. And to think I thought it was somewhat complicated.
So what's the deal with this abortion thingy? And should we vote for Democrats or Republicans?
bigbigslacker,
Easy-peasy.
Abortion? Anyone can have an abortion as long they eat the leftovers a la Fear Factor. You can sub in the BF or hubby if you want and you can talk him into it. (Added incentive is that this will seriously skew nearly all abortions into the very early first trimester.)
Democrat vs. Republican? Pick the funnier name.

Hmm... I think our resident lawyer, Dave W., has a Palestinian client!

It could very well be. Cause I remember this one time I got stuck on the "It's a Small World" ride in the South America part and there were all the people in colorful clothing and the pi?ata and a llama/goat/burro thing that was sticking its head out from between two mountains and waving it back and forth in time to the music and it kept singing 'its a small small world its a small small world its a small small world its a small small world' over and over and over and now any time I see colorful clothing or pi?atas or the Andes or llamas or hear "It's a Small Small World" I want to blow that shit right the fuck up.
lunchstealer,
My reaction, exactly. Note how quickly they removed Mr. Toad's Wild Ride when they learned that Mr. Toad was, in fact, a Zionist?
They aren't the cause of any geopolitical unrest, and they don't deserve to suffer.
all true. several complications, though, which i know you know:
1. definition of "children": a 17 year old caught planting a bomb at a bus stop may be called a "child," but he's also a murderer with full knowledge of what he's doing. the term "children" is, as we all know, manipulative and often meaningless.
2. when a youngster is used as a weapon, whom do you blame? the people defending themselves against that weapon or the people who decided to turn that child into a weapon?
3. israel and the palestinian territories are not the cause of geopolitical unrest, it's an excuse. we're talking about one half of one percent of the middle east, and a part without oil at that. it's a petty little border war with no real world consequence, but it finds its use in allowing dictators and theocrats to keep their populations' hatred focused on 'the other' rather than their so-called leaders.
bill, i see that a minute of thought was too much to ask. i do like, however, your ability to stuff so many inapt propaganda terms into one sentence. well done!
You know, Walt Disney didn't care much for Jews either, so a Mickey Mouse costume in a Hamas kids' show doesn't look too out of place.
Dude, that's David Blowie.
A program using a Mickey Mouse-like character ... has been pulled off Hamas's television station for "review...[because] the use of the cartoon character in such a role represented a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation...
The real reason is that they were getting their ass kicked in the ratings by SpongeBob JihadPants.
I guess Sesame Street seems pretty tame by comparison, no? I don't recall Big Bird ever pledging to "commit jihad".
Learn to sing Life on Mars and experience unadulterated joy.

Actually it started c 3000 BC when Abraham's wife Sarah finally had Isaac, and told Abe to kick Sara's Egyptian handmaid Hagar and her son (with Abe) Ishmael out into the desert.
No realtion to Hagar the Horrible.
Their campaign is to get kids to hate America, but they have to use an American icon to do it, because the kids love Mickey Mouse.
They're already lost.
