Small Country for Sale, Slightly Damaged
The offshore Principality of Sealand, recognized by no major nations and burned badly in a fire last year, is up for sale. Sorry: up for "transfer." Apparently you can't just sell a principality.

Humm, let me see if I have any certificates from those Colorado Freemen laying about for a swap.
I wonder how much it'll go for.
Think of the marketing opportunity for eBay if they could auction a country's transfer.
I'll throw in if someone starts a pot.
did somebody mention pot?
Lamar,
Ebay's sold islands larger than Sealand. Frankly, nobody need care who is living on that wretched platform.
Let's hope Michael Jackson doesn't move his Neverland Ranch there.
Warren,
I'll throw in on that, too.
FWIW, I've always thought that they should have sold the movie rights for the story of that place.
I got money on the pot...and the island.
If I was going to live on an offshore oil rig, I think I'd rather have one in the Gulf of Mexico rather than the North Sea.
No, Larry A, if you WERE to live on an offshore oil rig, not if you WAS to live...
Larry, Sealand isn't an oil rig, it's an intentionally sunken ship.
I will contribute. I vote we legalize pot when we arrive at our New World.
Why would we have to legalize pot? It will never have been illegal.
It might be tough to get at first. The guy on the corner will be a wee bit further away.
Actually, Sealand is neither an oil rig nor a sunken ship.
It's a British radar platform left over from WW2.
Floating platforms is where it's at!
