No Tanks for the Mammaries, Thai Colonel Decrees
"It is not appropriate to entertain soldiers while they are on duty," Colonel Acra Tiprote told Reuters after a troupe of 10 women in tight camouflage vests and shorts posed with soldiers and tanks while making a music video.
"People should differentiate between entertainment and seriousness. A coup is not entertaining," Acra said, although the tanks sent in to lead Thailand's first coup in 15 years had turned Bangkok into a carnival-type attraction.
Where are the Thai answers to Trapper John McIntyre and Hawkeye Pierce when you need a couple of uproarious mavericks to take some of the starch out stuffed-shirt commanders who treat war as sport and sport as, well, war? More here.

Hey, Joe! Love you long time.
The tone and the content of this statement seem at odds:
“…although the tanks sent in to lead Thailand’s first coup in 15 years had turned Bangkok into a carnival-type attraction.”
Wow, 15 whole years!
Maybe that should read ‘Thailand’s second coup in as many decades.’
This certainly doesn’t bode well for the whiskey and the democracy.
Well, a bloodless coup doesn’t necessarily mean no other body fluids weren’t involved.
joe,
LOL. That is good.
Are you sure this story is true based on picture?
I think “Reason” should establish a five picture minimum on any story about hot girls in tight shorts.
I think it’s interesting how underheated the rhetoric is for this coup. Maybe I’m used to the good old days, but the colonel actually called it a coup?
I always thought that the rest of the world calls it a coup, and the people directly involved (if they want to stay alive) make long-ass speeches full of euphamisms. “The removal of undemocratic elements” (or enemies of the people) “These regrettable circumstances” “Temporary state of emergency” “Imposition of martial law” “Emergency measures” “Thwarted coup” (If they’re claiming to be supressing some other, allegedly more dangerous faction) “Crisis” … That sort of thing. Were they all just showing off for Castro?
A coup is not entertaining,” Acra said, although the tanks sent in to lead Thailand’s first coup in 15 years had turned Bangkok into a carnival-type attraction.
Or as the Great Helmsman put it, “A revolution is not a dinner party.”
