Hugo Chavez, Bookseller
Another effect of the controversial Hugo Chavez UN speech is a big rise in Amazon rankings for Noam Chomsky (the paperback of his Hegemony or Survival is number one right now--and simultaneously the hardcover of the same book is number nine), whom Chavez chidingly recommended Americans read instead of "watching Superman movies." If he means the disappointing Superman Returns, I can only concur with the new number one foe of my nation; if he means the Reeve versions, I will give him III and IV: The Quest for Peace.

Come to me, Chavez! I defy you! Come and kneel before Zod! Zod!
All hail General Zod. . .and his campaign for president in 2008.
I read this and kept thinking of Chavez in a Superman costume.
{Giggle. Snort. Mrphl. Hehehe.}
someone suggesting we read a book instead of watching cartoon reruns.........how rude
Watching old Bugs Bunny cartoons is probably better for you then subjecting yourself to Noam Chomsky.
Oh, Brian, you can't seriously be suggesting that the new Superman movie was worse than Superman II? Have you seen Superman II lately?
So, I wonder what old Noamie is doing with the sudden windfall from his increased book sales.
well, even though I'd prefer people weren't being brainwashed by Chomsky, at least he's encouraging reading.
Reading is good, mkay?
Dear President Chavez
If I write a book titled "Peace, Brotherhood and Death to America", would you plug it from the podium of the UN General Assembly for me?
I could really use the money.
Anyone catch the news story where Che, er Hugo, said he would have liked to have met Chomsky before he died? Priceless.
Out of curiousity I just googled "chomsky castro" to see waht Chomsky thinks of Hugo's pal. Chomsky admits Castro has committed human rights violations, but the U.S. is much worse. Oh, Big suprise there. I'd google "chomsky US Satan", but whats the point.
