The Market for Abuse
The BBC reports:
A bar in eastern China has come up with a novel way of attracting clients -- they are allowed to beat up the staff.
The Rising Sun Anger Release Bar in Nanjing lets customers smash glasses, rant and even hit specially trained workers, state media reported.
The owner, Wu Gong, told China Daily that he was inspired to open the bar by his experiences as a migrant worker.
Because he got so frustrated he just wanted to hit people, or because his employers kept hitting him? The article doesn't say.
According to Reuters, "most of the patrons have been women, especially those working in karaoke bars and massage parlors." Presumably, after a long day of getting beaten up by masseuses, the bar's employees can visit those parlors for a nice, relaxing massage.
Obligatory pop culture reference:
MAN: Look! I came here for an argument.
MR. BARNARD: (calmly) Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse.
MAN: Oh I see, that explains it.
MR. BARNARD: No, you want room 12A next door.

Man: Thank You. (Under his breath) Stupid git!!
No you didn't..
Yes, I did. That not an argument, its a contradiction.
No it isn't...
I think I recall a department responsible for finding new things to tax...or am I thinking about the nightly news.
Look, I'm not going to argue with you until you pay.
No, No, No, this is being hit in the head lessons.
Jesse, that may be the funniest routine that has ever been done.
Am I allowed back yet?
JMJ
Not that I have any ultimate say in the matter, but if I did, I believe the answer would be a right-tasty, chocolate-smeared NO!
Mr. DeBakey's free, but he's a little bit conciliatory.
This must be the Copy and Paste Department.
Did anyone notice the name of the bar? Rising Sun, the symbol of Japan. And what city is the bar in? Nanjing, formerly known as Nanking, where the Rape of Nanking took place 60-odd years ago.
Coincidence?
Didn't they already cover this in Shaolin Soccer?
Having worked as a call center operator for several years, I'm looking for a job that allows me to beat up the customer. Particularly the dullards who can't grasp technical concepts more complex than an on/off switch.
