Chrislamofascism
Naveed Haq, the alleged shooter and murderer in the Seattle Jewish Federation episode, is still springing surprises. The self-described Muslim-American fanatic was baptized as a Christian in December:
Last winter, Haq began attending a weekly men's group meeting at the home of a men's ministry leader with the Word of Faith Center, a non-denominational, evangelical church in Kennewick.
The group's leader, Albert Montelongo, said Haq started studying the Bible. In December, he was baptized by Montelongo. The ceremony brought tears to Haq's eyes, Montelongo said.
He said Haq appeared to accept his new faith, though he knew that he would be offending his own family and its deeply rooted culture. His father, Mian Haq, was among the founders of the Islamic Center of the Tri-Cities in Richland, a place of worship for about 300 Muslims.
Catholic chauvinism colors all my perceptions of such things, so I keep thinking if this guy had gone through the full RCIA steeplechase instead of some swimming-pool-Jesus treatment with a bunch of schismatics, he would right now be eating soggy donuts at the CYO rather than awaiting arraignment on a murder charge. But then, what business does a guy with a name like Albert Montelongo have leaving the church of Rome? Just a few of the many ethnofaithoislamochristofascisto conundrums that we must grapple with in this mixed-up, shook-up, hill-of-beans world.
And one piece of housekeeping: In our previous discussion of Haq, commenter John blatantly stole a joke from Steve Sailer. It was a funny joke, and there isn't really any rule about this stuff, but please credit any jokes less than a week old.

Gawd Tim. As far as your prose goes, when you're on, you're really on. The first sentence of your second paragraph is just brilliant.
better latch-on christophobes! man bites dog!
When someone is running purely on 100% metaphysical octane, no matter the brand, stuff is gonna happen.
Of course I stole the joke. Sue me. But it wasn't even right. Oh, well maybe we do need to start rounding up the recently baptized. Look at it this way though, when this guy gets out of jail, I bet he can get a job at Mel Gibson's production company.
The servers are down, so forgive this being posted sometime around midnight. I am not shirking responsibility for stealing the joke or being dead wrong about this guy. Oh, well, I will continue to take the points and assume that homicidal, Pakistani lunatics are Muslims until proven otherwise.
I'm glad this is getting mentioned here (I've posted about it to a half-dozen other blogs/forums). It certainly complicates the, "Muslims are inherently driven to acts of violence" narrative the right-wing blogosphere is spewing 24/7 these days, and strongly suggests the guy was just a nutjob.
Mark my words: "Chrislamofascism" is a term that will outlive you, Cavanaugh, no matter what sort of Methusalah-like longevity science has in store for everyone's favorite San Francisco-based Reason web editor.
Any crime against another human being is just that, a crime. Efforts to tag religious or pious motives behind murder does not matter and is pretty juvenile.
It is disappointing to read on this blog the shallow commentary made by fellow libertarians I thought to be mature in their ideas and conversation.
It is understandable and is expected to hear or read such thoughtless dialogue by MSM.
The libertarian cause will not win the hearts and minds of the non-liberty believers if libertarian blogs are no better than teen-age tabloid nonsense.
Well, you know what they say about the recently converted.
Well if this guy is an apostate, then I say we just send him to Afghanistan for execution.
Unfortunately, Mr. Haq is just crazy. No, not in the typical Muslim fanatic kind of way, just the regular way. He was recently arrested for exposing himself in public and his parents had been 'struggling' with his mental illness for some years. So trying to explain his behavior and root it in logic and reason (yes, even the Muslim fanatic 'reason') will be futile.
You Ernst Rhoem wannabes will do anything to whitewash the Muslims in your shared desire to destroy Israel and the Jews. As for your joke cracking about that this guy was baptized, the woman you smeared as a murderess, Michelle Malkin, explains the concept of taqiyya that Muslims use for their depredations. She also explains the situation in MichelleMalkin.com. Maybe you think the Islamics will do your work for you and kill the Jews and Israel, but that still remains to be seen you evil Ernest Rhoem types. The Nazis were sexual perverts and eliminationist anti-Semites, too!
"There's no need to fear; UnderZog is here!"

Ha!
These large, fast growing evangelical movements tend to be less concerned about doctrine--I don't think I'd call 'em schismatics. They didn't separate from the beas...I mean...the RC church on any particular point of doctrine. They just met Jesus and got happy feet.
Oh, and I've sat through a confirmation class or two (not to mention Late Night Catechism) and it seemed to me that the calisthenics I went through before my swim in the pool was much more rigorous.

Too late, the genie's outta the bottle. Seattle Public officials (all wonderfully progressive) were repeating the words "Hate Crime(tm)" within forty seconds of this incident. This is before even they knew the actual motive for the crime-- or if it were a planned, coordinated attack (which it appears not to be).
That would be like New York officials calling the first plane into the World Trade Center a "hate crime".
"Well, you know what they say about the recently converted."
They spray community centers with gunfire?
"Efforts to tag religious or pious motives behind murder does not matter and is pretty juvenile."
Yep, it's crazy to attribute bizarre beliefs to bizarre behavior.
This reminds me of something I just read in the e-mail newletter of my old friend, Jim Schifrin, The WhistleBlower, which covers and uncovers politics in and around Sinincincinnati.
He says that our new Congressperson, Mean Jean Schmidt, has been urging Jews and Muslims to settle their differences over there in a Christian manner.

yeah ever since i baught "the iron Cross" on tim's asertion that it passes the random page review i have been reluctant to belive what he says...
What the hell it is like a german verision of the "the thin red line"...pensive, internalized and plodding, exept they lost the war, thus making it far less interesting.
One expects the losers of WW2 to be amoral.
No one mentions me under my new S/N of UnderZog, eh? The Ernst Rhoem wannabes don't love me anymore /sarcasm.
However, maybe this misnamed Reason rag is important. Maybe the Hizbollah terrorists got their cue to stage their own, phony Qana Hizbollywood production after reading Reason magazine's commentary of the 1996 Qana incident. This whole Qana thing may be phony Don't be deluded.
The pretty, Fillipino woman, Michell Malkin, scores again. No wonder you Ernst Rhoem wannabes want to smear her as a murderess.
Unka Ernst would want you to get it right: its Rohm, umlaut over the "o"
Underzog, friggin' brilliant. God, I hope you use that shtick in street theater or something.
Actually, Roehm is an acceptable English version of the name, because we're not fond of the umlaut.
For me, I say the hell with convention--the more umlauts, the better! Thus, R?hm.
Unka Ernst would want you to get it right: its Rohm, umlaut over the "o"
If I used the umlaut (I know how to do it), you guys would only say I'm being high falutin and elitest about the whole thing. In the book The Pink Swastika ,which describes you guys very well, they don't use the umlaut when mentioning Ernst Rh?m's name.
Tim --
"F" in effin catholic theology.
These folks are heretics not schismatics, for schismatics you need a duly functional bishop, with valid Host-zapping powers. Orthodox are typically schismatics, Anglicans possibly. Evangelicals rate merely as heretics, or in Vatican II speech "separated brethren", the post John XXIII PC term for "heretics".
What the hell it is like a german verision of the "the thin red line"...pensive, internalized and plodding, exept they lost the war, thus making it far less interesting.
Thin Red Line book or movie? Because I liked those too (the former more than the latter). That's why there are 31 flavors...
The book and I liked both as well...I also like "The Cross of Iron"...but still it isn't what you said it was.
No matter how suspect escape, you can not break the law.
