And now, the Flash-based Zinedine Zidane headbutting game. What took it so long?

If you tire of headbutting computer-generated Italians (how?), Kevin Baker's 2004 piece on the politics of video games is here.

    Er, Zinedine Zidane.

  2. Phileleutherus Lipsiensis   19 years ago

    Some of Zizou's greatest hits:

Apparently it went down like this:

Materazzi tweaked his nipple. Zidane told him that 'if he wanted his shirt he should wait to the end of the game'. Materazzi, considering this an arroagant and unneccessary statement told him that 'he was the son of a terrorist whore'. As Zidane's mum went into hospital last week he saw red and decided to unleash the 'headfury'.

Still, who cares? He's still the greatest European football since Johan Cruyff.

The Return of the Son of Headbutt
    This time it's personal.

  6. Phileleutherus Lipsiensis   19 years ago

    Oof!,

Not quite. A European Championship for France in 2008 would be nice though.

  7. Warren   19 years ago

    It's over, let it go.

  8. Mark VIII   19 years ago

    It's over, let it go.

Up yours. I'm nowhere near bald.

  9. Phileleutherus Lipsiensis   19 years ago

    Warren,

In sports nothing is ever really "over."

  10. Timon19   19 years ago

"Nothing is over until we decide it is!"

    Etc. Etc.

    Piss up a rope, Warren.

As for France winning Euro '08, fat chance, with the mass retirements coming. The middle of that team is going to be gutted, though getting Disaster-Waiting-to-Happen Barthez out of the picture will probably be a relief to all of France.

I liked Barthez, but in that goofy class clown/Keystone Kop kind of way.

  11. Phileleutherus Lipsiensis   19 years ago

    Timon19,

    We'll see.

  12. surf   19 years ago

Unless Klinsmann switches to the US, look for Germany in '08.

Barthez is not a World Cup calliber goalkeeper- in spite of the French results.

Helmets? The pussification of American children.

I'll be the first to say violence is an unacceptable response to insults... But decency and orderly behavior aside, out of sheer pragmatism, you just don't talk about some guy's mother, especially after you've been baiting him, unless you really, really want to get into a fight...Or you're just stupid.

  14. kevrob   19 years ago

That video game needs John Otway on the soundtrack.

    Kevin

  15. Phileleutherus Lipsiensis   19 years ago

Apparently Fifa rules allow for the disqualification of an entire team for defamatory language that touches on race, etc.
