Chicago Mayor Richard Daley has ordered police in "battle dress" to saturate high-crime neighborhoods each weekend this summer Along with the Illinois State Police and cook county Sheriff's Office, they'll be doing roadside safety checks, including the use of drug-sniffing dogs, and they'll be using license plate scanner capable of reading s capable of reading up to 3,600 tags per hour to look for cars connected to crimes.
