Student activists have been jailed or expelled in a crackdown on the nation's universities by the Iranian government. Lecturers who are members of human rights groups have also been fired, and the government is proposed requiring religious tests of teachers. The government has also begun burying the bodies of unknown soldiers on campus grounds as part of an effort that critics say will bring religious extremists onto campuses for "martyrs' ceremonies."
