Update: In a post-decision interview with Fox News, Carie Lemack, a 9/11-family member, said of the arguments in the trial, "It sounded to me like the government screwed up," rather than that he had any information that could have unraveled the plot. And when will the full evidence against Moussaoui be released to the public? Reading about him (he was going to fly a 5th plane into the White House with an assist from "shoe bomber" Richard Reid), he sounds more like he wants to be a martyr than anything else.

The jury has decided that he is eligible for the death penalty. They have not issued it as his actual sentence yet, from what I can tell.

That was one of the weirdest trials ever. A government lawyer nearly jeopardizes the case, so the defendant rushes to their rescue by telling the jury that he is, in fact, a very evil man.

Both sides did their very best to undermine their cases, and the defendant proved to be better at it.

The beauty of this Asshole is that he made himself elibile for the death penalty by taking the stand and testifying on his own behalf. Without his testimony the jury would have been hard pressed to reneder a verdict of death penalty eligible. His death penalty trial still needs to be held and it is almost a lock that he will be executed. The families of the victims of 9/11 will get to testify and that will seal his fate.

This trial really exposed how inept the government is. The FBI knew almost everything about this attack and still failed to stop it. I guess they were too busy chasing Cheech and Chong for selling Bongs.

Although I hesitate to point this out, Moussaoui should not be death penalty eligible from the evidence produced at trial. The government needed to show that they would have prevented the deaths of 9/11 if Moussaoui hadnt lied to them. 9/11 would have occurred regardless of what Moussaoui told them. They had a ton of info regarding these attacks and they did nothing. The feds are inept and are almost as responsible as the terrorists for 9/11.

I suspect that he testified as to his great evil bcse he wants to be put to death. As a martyr he gets the whole Paradise-full-o'-virgins gig... Theoretically.

If he actually does get a death sentence it will take many years, numerous appeals and millions of dollars before they finally get around to killing him.

It would be a lot easier and more efficient to sentence him to life in prison and put him in with the general population and let the patriotic convicts deal with him.
