Don't Buy the Beloved Country

A government panel has proposed a moratorium on purchases or sales of property in South Africa by foreigners. That would be followed by a law restricting foreigners from owning land and permitting them to have only 99-year leases. The restrictions would apply to all classes of real estate. The government blames foreigners for escalating real estate prices, especially in Cape Town.
