I never met Chris Tame, but I corresponded with him in 1969 and 1970, when we had a California Libertarian Alliance that helped inspire him to start the Libertarian Alliance in the UK.

He did a tremendous job promoting free minds and free markets, and establishing a framework in which other young intellectuals could involve themselves in promoting ideas and policy positions necessary for a free society.

    He will be missed.

Thanks for posting this. Hopefully, somebody lives in LA.

    Libertarians in Europe.
Kind of like porn stars at a Pentecostal picnic.

  4. Robert   20 years ago

As usual, I didn't even know he was sick -- or forgot. What organ did he have cancer of?

  5. Tom   20 years ago

Robert, Chris Tame had a rare and untreatable form of bone cancer. He was diagnosed in July last year and he met his situation with great bravery.

Someone on this thread made a smart-ass remark about the oddness of libertarianism in Britain. Save the sneers. Britain is the birthplace of classical liberalism, and Chris, a good friend of mine, helped ensure the flame flickered more brightly over the past 30 years.

    RIP
