On the off-chance that I'm not the only fan of the Comics Curmudgeon around here, dig the ultimate in popular culture specialization: Matt's Silent Penultimate Panel Watch.

Dang! Reverse the last two x & y:
X: “What are you doing?”
Y: “Blogging about silent second to last panels!”
X: [bubble]?[/bubble]
Y: “Because it is a standard and annoying formula!”
Damn! This Matt guy is on the ball. I guess there go my minor aspirations of ever becoming a comic strip cartoonist. That’s easily one of the biggest tricks in the bag*, uncovered and exposed for all to see and mock.
*At least for mediocre comic strips – hey, I have low aspirations.
Next up: A site about punchlines that begin on the penultimate panel…
…and end on the last.
In a similar vein, here are Garfield cartoons with Garfield’s bubbles erased. It improves the cartoon greatly, turning it into a French surrealist piece about the emptiness of John’s life.
Take that, Lazy Muncie.
Sandy,
That was great! Almost had me in tears. Thank you.
