You Don't Know Jack?
Since Jack Abramoff's indictment, the disgraced lobbyist has been tossed unceremoniously into Capitol Hill's memory hole—it's a mystery how he got his reputation as a D.C. power player, because darnit, nobody seems to remember knowing him. But in a Vanity Fair profile [PDF] due out next week, Abramoff is determined to remind his erstwhile buddies about all the good times they shared. For instance:
Every appropriation we wanted [from Sen. Conrad Burns's (R-Mont.) committee] we got. Our staffs were as close as they could be. They practically used [Abramoff-owned restaurant] Signatures as their cafeteria. I mean, it's a little difficult for him to run from that record.
Whole thing's worth a read.

This Abramoff guy looks like he has a real mean strike, and knows how to hold a grudge. Let's hope so, and let's hope he decides to take it out on the Congressman who were only too happy to take his money, but now can't remember his name.
Meanwhile, Burns has been steadily declining in Montana's polls. Looks like its a pretty solid opening for the Dems:

I had a plate of little kobe beef burgers from Signatures at the DC Taste Of The Nation benefit. Will I decline in the polls as well? Granted, I was only appropriating as much awesome food as I could possibly cram into my mouth, but still.
They were quite delicious.
*Sigh* Ok Ok, it was me. I put Abramoff on the map. I told him, over dinner one night, "Jack, go do good in the name of government!" The rest was history.
Gad, what a bunch of self-serving creeps. Club Fed is (way!) too good for them. Let's send everybody in Washington who's never heard of Abramoff to Gitmo, and then tear down all the empty buildings.
This is good 'n hilarious here:
Newt Gingrich, whose spokesman Rick Tyler tells Margolick that "Before [Abramoff's] picture appeared on TV and in the newspapers, Newt wouldn't have known him if he fell across him. He hadn't seen him in 10 years." A rankled Abramoff says "I have more pictures of [Newt] than I have of my wife." Abramoff shows Margolick numerous photographs: "Here's Newt. Newt. Newt. Newt. More Newt. Newt with Grover [Norquist, the Washington conservative Republican uber-strategist and longtime Abramoff friend] this time. But Newt never met me. Ollie North. Newt. Can't be Newt ... he never met me. Oh, Newt! What's he doing there? Must be a Newt look-alike.... Newt again! It's sick! I thought he never met me!"
Jack who?
Hey, did you guys hear about that port security thing...
Where's all the pictures with Democrats? This was a bipartisan scandal, right fellas? Fellas?
Hello?
