Houses Don't Throw Loud Parties. People Do

|

The Lincoln, Nebraska, City Council is considering tagging disorderly houses. That would be houses, or other properties, according to the Lincoln Journal Star, "where five or more people are gathered or where there?s excessive noise, traffic, obstruction of streets, littering, public drinking, fighting, disturbing the peace or minors drinking alcohol." If police find more violations within the next 180 days, they could "cite and fine everyone from property owners to tenants and party guests." Some residents support the idea, saying something needs to be done about raucous parties thrown by university students. But others say the tags would deter people from buying homes around those tagged and hurt real estate prices.
