On NPR this morning: A story about an American citizen being detained overseas at the behest of the U.S. government on secret evidence.

The story offers no evidence (perhaps it's secret) that he was detained at the behest of the US. Recent US attempts to get the Saudis to either try him or send him home to the US indicate he is not being currently held at the behest of the US.
The timing of his arrest did come as the US arrested three citizens and sent them to Saudi for trial. But as joe has noted previously, that coincidental timing doesn't amount to evidence.
