I'm having a hard time reading Richert's article on account of that hysterical pic he has of himself styled as a retrosexual noir superhero.

It could have been worse. He could be in a smoking jacket by the fireplace.
It was a cold day in the office, colder than the holy water font at St. Mary's before 7 a.m. Mass. I'd just tossed back my fourth bourbon, neat, when in walked this dame. I knew she was trouble -- trouble with a capital T. She had the kind of legs that could make a man forget about right and wrong, up and down, communitarianism and libertarianism, Marxian economics and traditional Catholic teaching.
She leaned toward me over her desk. Yeah, this dame was trouble, all right -- double trouble. I felt like I was being dive-bombed by a couple of zeppelins.
"Please -- I need your help -- desperately," she breathed huskily.
I wiped the fog off my glasses with a threadbare old handkerchief and fixed her with a stare as hard as a Randian's heart. "Whatsa matter, sister? Couldn't get any of the selfish libertine punks over at lewrockwell.com to lend you a hand?"
"her desk" should = "my desk."
When I try to write like an anti-libertarian, I always get confused about whose property is whose.
Extra points awarded for the semi-obscure Graham Parker reference in your post title.
He's all rubber gloves and no head.
Thanks, gmw (and m) -- I was wondering if anyone would catch that.
Yeah, I was very surprised (and pleased) to see Graham quote here--an excellent song off a truly great album.
Of course "Bodies" by the Pistols would have worked, too: screaming fucking bloody mess.

Pavel, that was completely uncalled for--funny, but uncalled for.
His pic is actually tame compared to some of the others--have you taken a stroll through the gallery?

You're right Ken. My remark was puerile and distracted from the the more pressing discussion of the merits of '70s pub rock.
I looked through the gallery at http://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/TRI/About.htm
1st guy: "And the Lawgiver hath said, 'Smoke 'em if you got 'em!"
2nd guy: Actually looks fairly normal to me. But then, I'm a libertarian.
3rd guy "I want to be Tom Wolfe, but my hat is squeezing my head!"
4th guy: "Yee hah. Now, get the @#$% off my land."
5th guy: "I forget -- am I Humphrey Bogart, Sherlock Holmes or Indiana Jones?"
I'm sure they're all smart guys, actually; I'm just a jerk.
What was the article about again?
Damn you, Pavel!
Blast!
