A Russian student has been sentenced to 12 months in jail for writing a poem about two gay police officers. The student, named only as Alexei, was angry after two policemen arrested him for driving without a license, so he wrote a poem about two gay lovers who happened to be police officers and used their names and place of work and placed it on the Web. Police IT experts tracked him down and charged him with insulting authority and distributing pornography.
"It feels like we've gone from tragedy to farce."
