Richard Nixon: The Pericles of Free Enterprise
I'm not sure what the American masses are thinking about Arnold's speech tonight. It's possible that they're basking in his Reaganesque rhetoric about freedom and the future. And it's possible they're just saying, "Hey -- did I imagine it, or did that guy from the Terminator movies say that he was inspired by the oratory of Richard Nixon?"
But I'm pretty sure he went over better than the Bush daughters' giggly performance. (Nick compares them to the Olsen twins, but I think I caught a whiff of the Hilton sisters.) And he surely overshadowed the president's stiff introduction of Laura Bush, piped in from a baseball game in Pennsylvania. She's your wife, George. When you tell us how much you love her, it's best not to look like you're reading off a cue card.
