Marijuana Monopoly

|

In two lawsuits filed today, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies accuses the federal government of illegally obstructing research on the medical value of marijuana. One suit claims the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the only legal source of cannabis in the U.S., has unreasonably withheld marijuana for two FDA-approved studies. The other argues that the Drug Enforcement Administration is dragging its feet on an application from a University of Massachusetts at Amherst scientist for permission to establish an alternative, private source of marijuana for research.
