Be glad you can laugh at them…
…because if this sampling of senators' favorite jokes is at all representative, you're unlikely to ever laugh with them. Actually, I exempt Kent Conrad (D-ND); his evoked a half-chuckle. And I suspect he has better ones he thought inappropriate for the 10-year-old boy he believed himself to be responding to…

People who are this humorless cannot represent me in any sense of the word.
At least the Kerry letter admitted that if he wanted to be a comedian, he'd need better jokes than Kerry's groaner.
And you'd think Senator "butt love mixture" Santorum would be able to come up with something better than "I do enjoy laughing."
"A neocon, a Vientam war protestor, and Howard Stern walk into a bar ..."
Well, "nice belt" got a laugh out at the bar on St. Patrick's Day...
Heh, Conrad's is an old classic.
Hagel's got a chuckle out of me, but I'm a sucker for cheap puns.
Dachle's "joke" disturbed me.
McCain's was vaguely amusing.
Ben Nelson's wasn't bad either. I think it was pretty funny.
Conrad's joke famously won the title of "funniest joke ever" or somesuch by people polled (I believe in Britain) a year or two ago.
McCain's cracked me up. Nerdy to send to a 10 year old, but funny.
Shocking. Who would have expected Rick Santorum to be so utterly devoid of humor that he couldn't even come up with a joke for a ten-year-old?
"Prank" does NOT describe being false in this case.
If you have to lie to get what you want
you just don't have much, and this isn't much.
This exercise is a good excuse for Senators
not to respond to such letters in the future.
Bless the Senators for wasting their time on you,
and shame on you for wasting your time and theirs.
McCain deserves extra points for managing to write a funny and educational joke. If the writer actually was ten years old, he might have learned some presidential history.
DJ of Raleigh--You and Sen. Santorum should get together, the two of you seem to have comparable senses of humor.

No shit. I bet Cap'n DJ's great fun at parties...
Clinton and Kennedy, two limousine liberals too busy schmoozing the media to reply to someone too young to vote and otherwise unable to be of any use to their all consuming ambitions.
Rick Santorum obviously doesn't know any jokes that don't feature anal sex.
The only problem I have with Kerry's is that it cuts too close to the bone to be funny.
I thought three or four others were all right. I liked Jon Kyl's the best.
They don't like Trent Lott either(who also didn't respond to the joke request).
Describing Lott:
"Also voted YES on ending special funding for minority & women-owned businesses"
Guess they think voting against discrimination, or "special funding", is bad.
Too bad R. A. Wilson can't get elected to Congress on the Guns & Dope Party ticket. His joke ("No, my grandfather minded his own fucking business") was a good one.
To be fair, are there any actually funny jokes appropriate for a 10-year-old to hear?
