Kerry is next. The intern might be out but the sword of Hanoi Jane is getting bigger and bigger over Kerry's head. Read this blog and newspaper articles about veterans callling Kerry a traitor.
    http://hughhewitt.com/

It also has a link to transcripts of what Kerry told the senate commission about "raping, murdering" American soldiers in Vietnam in the early 70's.

  2. Jean Bart   21 years ago

To be blunt, Americans really don't want to relive the raping and murdering; because Kerry was more than truthful and that fact is going to wreck a great deal of mis-remembrance and forgetfulness.

  3. Jean Bart   21 years ago

    Ricky,

Also, Kerry is up on double digits on Bush in the polls, according to that Drudge fellow.

  4. Hick American   21 years ago

    JB,

There is no doubt that there were war crimes committed (by Americans) during the Vietnam War. The North Vietnamese however, committed war crimes as a matter of policy.

To say Kerry was "more than truthful" is not accurate. Especially if you are referring to the "Winter Soldiers" investigation wich Kerry referenced in his testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971. Quoting an article publish today on the evil National Review Online:

"In fact, the entire Winter Soldiers Investigation was a lie. It was inspired by Mark Lane's 1970 book entitled Conversations with Americans, which claimed to recount atrocity stories by Vietnam veterans. This book was panned by James Reston Jr. and Neil Sheehan, not exactly known as supporters of the Vietnam War. Sheehan in particular demonstrated that many of Lane's "eye witnesses" either had never served in Vietnam or had not done so in the capacity they claimed.

Nonetheless, Sen. Mark Hatfield inserted the transcript of the Winter Soldier testimonies into the Congressional Record and asked the Commandant of the Marine Corps to investigate the war crimes allegedly committed by Marines. When the Naval Investigative Service attempted to interview the so-called witnesses, most refused to cooperate, even after assurances that they would not be questioned about atrocities they may have committed personally. Those that did cooperate never provided details of actual crimes to investigators. The NIS also discovered that some of the most grisly testimony was given by fake witnesses who had appropriated the names of real Vietnam veterans."

I could give a shit about hughhewitt and others that slam John Kerry for what he said or didn't say following his return from Vietnam. I've got six people close to me that came back fucked up. Four of which denounced the war and the other two were critical, but stopped short of 'slander' as Hugh put it.

So Hugh, if I am going to have a president who claims to be a war president, I would at least want him to know just how hell war is.

So, now how about a president who claims to be fiscally conservative? May not get it with Kerry and certainly didn't get it with Bush. I'm still on the fence.

  6. Walter Wallis   21 years ago

Kerry helped the democrats enslave millions, condemned a million or so to death and drove hundreds of thousands into the sea to escape enslavement. Kerry and the democrats pissed away the sacrifice of lots of Americans and handed the communists a victory they never could have achieved in the field. New democrats are on the ethical plane of the contractors who built the furnaces at Dachau.

  7. Eric   21 years ago

    Julian,
I like the analogy. Dean's been headless since Iowa.

  8. Joe Majsterski   21 years ago

Well, yeah, he's been headless because HIS HEAD BLEW UP.

  9. John Q   21 years ago

New democrats are on the ethical plane of the contractors who built the furnaces at Dachau.

Hmmm. OK, if you say so. LMAO

  10. Jack   21 years ago

Hmm, there's at least one instance of a chicken surviving 4 and a half years after being decapitated: http://www.flickit.com/mike.html
Maybe Dean will win the presidency as a write-in candidate and serve one term... 😀

    JB

Republican incumbents nearly ALWAYS trail the Democrat challenger at this stage of the election cycle. Although it could become serious, it isn't yet.

Only one Republican incumbent has failed of re-election in the modern era. Of course that WAS the first Bush, but he was following twelve years of Reps in the White House, he had Perot hurting him, and perhaps didn't really want a second term anyway (that was a wide-spread perception).

  12. Andrew   21 years ago

    JB

No. Republicans aren't cry-babies. When I first started to think of myself as a libertarian/conservative/Republican it was 1975: S Viet nam collapsed, Nixon resigned, Ford cruising to defeat...I could not have chosen a less fashionable time.

Maybe it's family karma...my father got his first stock-broker's license in 1928.

I don't much admire people who always seem to be in step.

  13. Douglas Fletcher   21 years ago

    YEEEAAAHH!!!!

  14. Walter Wallis   21 years ago

Hey, Jean Bart - what about Kerry's support for the genocide of the 'yards?

  15. Jason Ligon   21 years ago

He's quittin' in North Dakota, and Florida, and South Carolina, and ... North Dakota!

  16. Jean Bart   21 years ago

    Walter, Hick, etc.,

I had American instructors who discussed these issues with me as a means to reform the French military's view on these issues (because we are adopting the American standard). Are you telling me that these instructors were liars?

    Walter,

I think I have already made clear in the "killer Kerry" discussion that I found his war trumpeting to be despicable; indeed, I find it to be similar to le Pen's equally despicable war trumpeting of his dark efforts in Algeria.

  17. Jean Bart   21 years ago

    Andrew,

So what do you do if Bush loses the election? Commit suicide? 🙂

  18. Lollypop Guild   21 years ago

Ding dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch, the witch is dead! Ding dong the wicked witch is dead!

  19. Hick American   21 years ago

    JB,

All I said was that Kerry was not "more than truthful". Specifically in his references to the Winter Soldiers, he has exaggerated the atrocities committed by Americans.

  20. Fred   21 years ago

I am a Viet Nam era veteran. That is not to say that I know the horror of war, it is only to say that I am old and sufficiently experienced to do my own thinking. I have no use for HughHewitt or other seditious hate mongerers.

The Libertarian Party better have a good candidate this year, or else I'm voting for Kerry. Just kidding. I live in a dark blue state.

  21. Fred   21 years ago

Oops, sorry. Wrong thread. I meant this to be on the More Unsolicited Advice for Bush thread.
