Dingell for the Prosecution

Tonight on MSNBC at 6pm, I'll be debating Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) about the most overexposed breast since Lady Liberty showed some skin on the 1916 quarter.

Keep your fingers crossed that no wardrobe malfunctions ensue.

    Thanks for the coin link.
It proves that God and boobs CAN coexist.

Nick, not to be offensive, so please dont take this wrong, but if we really are trying to send the message that 'enough is enough' about the whole Janet breast issue, why continue to fan the flames by participating in a debate over the issue??

Wouldnt a more reasonable way to make your stand would be refuse to participate in the discussion on the grounds thats not only is it a waste of your time, but a waste of the viewers time, and really at this point, the waste of time of an entire nation.

I mean seriously, there have been about 2 stories a day posted to this blog alone over the damn issue, the top story of every news agency in America is this damn tit. Talk about wagging the dog, this administration has made the tit a bigger issue then even Clintons blow job, and I didnt think that was ever going to be possible.

I say, make a stand, refuse to discuss it anymore, the more people that do this the less we have to hear about it, and a nation can move on to more important news, like maybe an election....

    shesh

"and a nation can move on to more important news, like maybe an election....

Nah... this is way more fun. It's great to see conservatives make asses out of themselves as they go into hysterics over trivialities.

To most people, this is already a non-issue. As such, the conservative right will further alienate itself from the views of the mainstream population by continuing to make it an issue. Nobody likes puritans, and people like stubborn, fanatical puritans even less.

This tit thing should be milked for as long as possible. (I've SO been waiting to use that line.)

  4. late for the boom   21 years ago

Russ, Id have the same view as you if it didnt appear that 'mainstream' America actually has a problem with the tit.

Seriously, every 'poll' I have seen regarding the issue puts me in the minority. (minority being, couldnt give a shit less about the tit) So, I think we actually live in a puritan nation. Ironic, since our forefathers fled a puritan nation to be free....

  5. durango95   21 years ago

"our forefathers fled a puritan nation to be free...."

    Pennsylvania?

  6. fyodor   21 years ago

I would agree with the latester if it weren't for the fact that the FCC is contemplating real actions that will have real consequences on real people. The other side needs to be heard. Maybe people are scared to be objectively pro-breast!

  7. Dilly   21 years ago

6 o'clock in which time zone?

  8. Eric   21 years ago

Ironic, since our forefathers fled a puritan nation to be free....

I'm pretty sure that the inverse was the case with many of the ones who made it to New England. The Virginia Cavaliers are a different story, of course.

  9. late for the boom   21 years ago

Can we strike from the record, my comment regarding forefathers fleeing from puritans...

my historical analogies are lacking today, and I would rather not see the thread hijacked by historical corrections =)

    Go get 'em, Nick!

  11. Swamp Justice   21 years ago

I too am tired about readin about Janet's boob. Maybe H&R can cut down to just one boob story per day. Or maybe just stories about silly gub'mint reaction rather than every Joe Talkshow that blows steam about it.. yawn..

  12. shane   21 years ago

I'd much rather witness a Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" than a Dingell or Gillespie one.

  13. dj of raleigh   21 years ago

I missed the show, but the issue isn't a tit, but TRUST.
The average citizen rightly expects CBS to respect them
when they open their homes up on prime time Sunday night.

Trust, that is what the democrats are attacking Bush for,
for without TRUST you can't be a leader, get elected.
Bush lied, Bush is a deserter, Bush is stupid.
You can't trust Bush is the democrats' assault in 04.

The "economy stupid" is still being shouted out.
You can't trust Bush with the future, with Social Security.

The tit thing going on is a funny one, entertainment.
One the one side are those who are offended.
On the other are those pretending 'what's the deal.'
Come on, how stupid do you have to be not to realize tits,
or a tit of a celebrity is going to open eyes, get attention?
Janet Jackson knew it was going to get lots of attention.
Is Janet Jackson that much smarter than the average guy?
Well, the average guy understands that something new happened,
that they got flashed, and the average guy is going to react.
What kind of guy is going to give the British stiff upper lip?
Janet would have been better off to have shown her ass,
for that is what she did in the mind of a mature person.
I iwish I had seen the show, heard the debate,
and I wish Nick had had the balls to moon them all.
You fight fire with fire, and expose weak argument
with in your face example. Like I said way back,
this was fun, fun to make fun of, fun to fuss over.

  14. MALAK   21 years ago

For everyone who keeps referring to it as 'the tit', the great auter, Woodrow Allen, once noted on film that, "These things usually travel in pairs." As for the possibility of a Gillespie wardrobe malfunction, I think that leather jacket qualifies . . .

  15. david   21 years ago

Good job, Nick..caught the re-broadcast. Dingell (and Abrams, not suprisingly) looked like idiots on this issue.

I'll say that was an overexposed breast. Maybe I'm weird, but I find Janet Jackson remarkably unattractive, clothed or unclothed.

  19. Douglas Fletcher   21 years ago

    Vote well and vote often.

  20. Douglas Fletcher   21 years ago

About the 1916 coin, those bare breasts get me real hot and all, but the motto "In God We Tryst",
christ it wasn't even the 1920s yet.

  21. some guy   21 years ago

I had wondered about the "in God we trust" on the coin, too. I guess before 1954 (or whenever) it was optional.

  22. david   21 years ago

    (sorry)

  23. Fred   21 years ago

It's hard to dis the Dingll with the term 'bloviating'. When spoken it sounds too Hitchensey.

Communism has nothing to do with love. Communism is an excellent hammer which we use to destroy our enemy.
