Winning is the Thing
The Bush White House has no doubt noticed that exit polls show that among Demo voters yesterday a key issue was beating the tar outta Dubya. This is significant as it suggests there is little George Bush can do to win such voters over to his column. Not a crippling blow, but an indication that decent Democratic campaign at least will have a shot.
It was also telling that one of the biggest applause lines in John Kerry's otherwise drab mini-victory speech was a promise for an America where "John Ashcroft is not attorney general."
Not much Bush can do about that, either.

Silly to think this was ever about anything else.
Just like a Republican trying to buy votes to compete with a Democrat on 'domestic issues', the Dems will inevitably run to 'electability' and wash out their platform.
If they are unfortunate enough get majorities in both the house and senate too, they will squander it as the Repubs have. They will float nationalized health care and re-regulation of the economy, and oops, here comes Gingrich.
