I think that's just a little hysterical. Have you actually read the guy's books? Schismatrix, for one, was a work of pure genius, as was Islands in the Net. He's made some pretty insightful remarks into the nature of, among other things, the American Empire, global capitalism, technological revolutiuons, etc. Admittedly, his latest books have been somewhat disappointing, though he himself admits that as he's aged he's tended to focus more on the little details of how the future may be different than on sweeping technological and social speculation. He may not be the best science fiction writer out there, but he's still, in my opinion, one of the more intelligent and insightful voices in the media.
Thank god hit&run requires everyone to enter a fake email address so that this fine forum doesn't turn into a cesspool.
Here here!
Request: Now that Reason has interviewed one of my favorite futurists, could you now please interview another fave, Michael Lewis? That'd be great.
Any red-blooded guy with 80 megabytes of rancid porn on his hard disk can be a publisher on a CD-ROM in seconds.
forget that dinosaur shit, i was able to download that manga (comic book) that got its publisher arrested in japan within about 5 hours of hearing about the story.
why'd he get arrested?

5{roups that are open to everyone but don't have specific goals or cater to specific interests turn to crap. But when the common good is recognized by the group, self-policing through flaming generally keeps things on track. Generally, that is.
Why on earth does anyone at Reason think that we might give a flying fuck what Bruce thinks? The guy is a flipping moron. Not ot mention being a crappy writer. Yes this is a personal attack but this guy is a waste of oxygen.
