Bawdy car mural lands driver in jail

Indianapolis police took Erica Meredith, 25, into custody Thursday night following a Northeastside traffic stop when an officer saw the 3-by-5 foot airbrushed color portrait of a stripper at a dancing pole.

The officer wrote in a report that "this painting, applying contemporary standards, displays a theme which appeals to the prurient of interest of sex."

One mitigating factor: The vehicle is a 1976 Buick, which is not a particularly prurient make, and this:

The car usually sits locked in a garage because it was designed to make an impression at sport shows. She said her own car's transmission is not working, she had to borrow the vehicle Thursday night for a few errands: to get an infant to the emergency room and then to pick up her 8-year-old daughter from school.

"She rushed the baby to the emergency room," said [Meredith's boyfriend Keyon] Johnson, who spoke to the Star and the Star's newsgathering partner, WTHR-13. "She was crying and could not figure out what was wrong with her. From there she …picked up our other child from the after school program."
