"Nothing, Nothing, Nothing"
Nada. Zippy. Rien. Bupkus. That's what French police say they have on a supposed terrorist on the loose. Police do know a passenger failed to show up for a flight out of Paris, thus triggering the recent spate of air traffic lockdowns. Further, it seems this person has the last name "Hai," which is the same name of an Afghan citizen on some U.S. terror-watch list.
To recap, that is a three letter match at the heart of this massive to-do.

Aha! But now we do know something.
We know that nothing is known!
You have to give these guys just a little slack. They can’t afford to make ONE SINGLE MISTAKE. The terrorists can try and try again but the good guys have to get it right every single time. So if they aren’t taking any chances, I won’t shed any tears for airline passengers because their delayed plane DIDN’T BLOW UP. It’s easy to complain that law enforcement is being hyper-sensitive but you are forgetting just how high the stakes really are.
Diego, despite that impassioned plea, cost benefit analysis still has a place in security measures.
Jack, imagine yourself as the Director of the FBI explaining to the Attorney General, the President, the U.S. Senate, and the families of the deceased that. “our cost benefit analysis determined that it wasn’t worth delaying or canceling that flight because our intelligence was not specific enough.”
My guess is that Mueller is deadly serious about not being in that position if he can help it.
That’s why I drive.
WASHINGTON, Jan 7 (AFP) – US Secretary of State Colin Powell singled out Paris for praise Wednesday following French cooperation in stepped up security checks on airline passengers as America remains on high alert for potential terror attacks.
Damn Homeland Security and those inaccurate watchlists.
And damn them for trying to create CAPPS II and the U.S. visit, with more accurate information and biometrics.
Diego, I don’t see why Mueller would care in that situation. He didn’t even get a day’s suspension without pay after 9/11.
Just remember all of the Democrats who complained after 9/11 that President Bush sohuld have been able to prevent the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon.
They called President Bush incompetent for failing to prevent the attacks.
Now they want to go the opposite direction and stop attempting to prevent future attacks.
It’s all hypocrisy!
As if the French care even one little bit about the defense of America.
The French see the Germans as permanently emasculated after their last two failed attempts at taking over France, and as a result the French see America as irrelevant and unnecessary.
They don’t like us. They don’t like our culture. They don’t like our food. They don’t like our politics. Fine.
America is going to have to learn to deal with not being liked.
Being right is far more important than being liked.
DFH,
I am French; I like America. I would say that skewers your little rant. 🙂 And given that France and Germany have been very friendly towards each other for fifty plus years now, if your thesis were correct, we should have broken all ties with the U.S. quite some time ago. Furthermore, given that we’ve been willing to run about on your wild goose chases over the past few weeks, likely demonstrates how much we do care. 🙂
