People Shoot Pistols At Each Other
England's greatest songwriter was shot in New Orleans yesterday. According to early reports, Ray Davies of the Kinks -- the only rock star to sing an ode to Queen Victoria before getting knighted -- was wounded in the leg while chasing down the thieves who stole his date's purse. That said, there's always the chance that Dave did it.
Us fans can sleep easy: the singer appears to be in good shape. According to Davies' manager, "He's in hospital but it is not really serious. He should be up and about in a day or so."

New Orleans is a dangerous place, especially around the old French Quarter and the cemetary next to it. Glad old Ray is doing fine. Years ago in college, my girlfriend claimed that (even then) lecherous old git hit on her as she waited tables in New York state. Heh.
Stray too far from the Quarter and you'll find yourself in Treme or the Marigny. Parts of the Marigny are improving, but it's still the Ninth Ward and Treme is, well, bad.
Glad to hear he's OK, and kudos to Ol' Ray for having the guts to go after the maggots who ripped off his lady.
I bet it was a frustrated oklahoma fan.
Finally, one of these schmoes actually appears to deserve his knighthood. Who said chivalry was dead?
Hey, didn't McCartney sing Her Majesty ("Her majesty's a pretty nice girl, some day I'm gonna make her mine...") on Abbey Road? That was before he was knighted... đŸ˜‰
Oh, Victoria, nm. Duh.
Those old 'invaders' just love the USA. We shoot at them, still they keep coming back.
Old Hickory must be rolling over in his grave.
"That said, there's always the chance that Dave did it."
OK, 'ya lost me.
What is this about Ray being shot by his brother Dave?
Can someone explain the joke?
Will, while I'm not a big Kinks fan, it is widely known that the Gallagher brothers (Oasis) are basically ripping off the Davies boys every time they engage in a sibling dust up. Ray and Dave have been known to go at it on stage, during a show.
