Bloody Fools
Awot Gebreyesus spent five months in jail because he had red paint on his shirt. Informants told Atlanta police that the 17-year-old had bragged about killing a man who had recently been murdered. Gebreyesus had three people who said he was with them at the time of the murder, but he was arrested anyway, largely because police found what they thought was blood on one of his t-shirts. Five months later, lab tests found no blood, just paint, on that shirt.
