Shameless Self-Promotion, Part XXVIII
We get a very nice plug in the latest ish of the ultimate DC insider mag National Journal, which says that Reason is "loaded with sharp content" and "[e]ven manages to make deregulation unboring….There is nothing remotely like this magazine."
Read the whole column here and, for god's sake, subscribe if you don't already!
(And if you do subscribe, give the gift of Reason!)

I think Reason’s staffers were mendicant priests in their past lives.
I thought the ultimate DC insider mag was Foreign Affairs (that, or Media Bypass). Guess I’m not enough of an insider.
The next self promotion had better elaborate on the endless wit and wisdom of Reason H&R commenters. We should be part of the love in.
Hey Nick,
I buy Reason, every month, at book stores to help motivate them to keep carrying it. Sometimes, if I find a book store that doesn’t carry Reason,I request that they do and then buy some there, kinda gets the ball rolling. I have a hunch that I’m not the only one who employs this strategy. But if you guys would prefer I subscribe instead, (maybe it’s better for your ad rates or something) just let me know.
Also, I was wondering, what could possibly be shameful about self-promotion anyway?
Rick,
Thanks for making the effort you describe; it’s much appreciated. The main benefit of subscribing vs. buying on the newsstand is price (there’s also convenience). And of course, if you subscribe or buy newsstand copies, you get the content in the print edition a month ahead of people who only read us on the Web.
It’s great if you’ve gotten some bookstores to carry the mag that otherwise wouldn’t have, but I hate for any reader to pay more than they need to. Our circ. figures are such that ad rates won’t swing too much one way or another.
All things being equal, I’d suggest you subscribe and save a few bucks a year. You can always badger newsstands to carry us anyway, right?
Nick,
OK…I’ll just subscribe then. You’re right; we can still cajole any bookstores or news-stands that don’t carry Reason, to do so.
But by subscribing, aren’t you taking away their reason to purchase it?
