Pop Will Sue Itself
Quote of the week:
"I'm almost tempted to go onto Kazaa and download some of my own music, just to see if the RIAA would sue me for having mp3's of my own songs on my hard-drive." --Moby

Cool thing is that Kazaa is suing the RIAA for copyright infringement!
It seems that the RIAA used an authorized derivative of Kazaa software in tracking down Kazaa users.

Wow. New respect for Moby.
I'm with Franklin Harris. I wasn't really much of a Moby fan before. I don't know, he's clearly a talented artist and all, but his music is just not really my style. Today, I have newfound respect for him.
Let's just hope ol' Mob' hasn't oversampled anybody else's tracks without paying for the privilege!
Kevin
Sign me up for the "People who don't listen to Moby fanclub". Giving the finger to the RIAA is praiseworthy. So is pissing off eminem, who is now on my shitlist for giving Weird Al (greatest musical genius of our time) the go green light on the song parody but not the video. Give em hell MOBY
Maybe that's when he'll reach for his revolver.
(Even if it is a Mission Of Burma tune.)
Who are all these little bald guys, and where do they come from?
Jesse, your reference to PWEI does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Wise Up Suckers!
Wow, that brings me back... they were the opener at the first real concert I ever attended (Nine Inch Nails at Nassau Coliseum).
Kevin: heh...both.
Pop Will Eat Itself! Wow. Just, wow. Do you make interns go through the cassette discount bin at Tower to find these references?

President Bush was denounced as an 'evil
f-----' at a fund-raiser this week for Democrat presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry. The event, held at Manhattan's Intrepid's Sea-Air-Space Museum Thursday night, featured a vulgarity-laced performance by techno-rocker Moby...Then, after the song ended, Moby denounced Bush to the crowd of Kerry-backers as "an evil f---," the News said.
I don't care how "hip" Moby is, or how clever he thinks he is re: his comments about the RIAA...this behavior is just plain old stupid, juvenile, and repugnant.
david,
WHICH behavior is stupid, juvenile, and repugnant? Calling Bush an "evil f-----," or endorsing Kerry?
I think the RIAA can sue Moby, although they might not if they find out who he is fast enough. After all, Moby doesn't own all the rights to his recordings; some go to his distributors, which would be RIAA members.
